The internet is swamped with articles and blogs spreading words of wisdom about the best places to visit and experiences to have in Los Angeles. But when was the last time someone told you about the things you can afford to skip in the City of Angels? Well, it’s important because as a tourist, you do not want to waste the little time you have in your hands before you hop-on a Virgin Atlantic flight to indulge in the regular affairs of your life. You want to unveil the best parts of the city and that includes steering clear of things that are not worth your time, effort and money. So, without any further ado, let’s get straight to the things you can skip while exploring L.A.

Do not take a Movie Star Home tour

No one is denying the fact that taking a tour to the homes of some of the biggest Hollywood stars residing in Los Angeles sounds incredible. But that is just what it is; only sounds incredible and is nowhere close to being as glamorous as you might think. It is highly probable that the celebrity you are hoping to see during this tour is off to somewhere else for filming. And don’t get fooled in to believing that celebrities wait outside their homes waiting for tourists to wave at them when they arrive?! The likeliness of you finding a celebrity on this tour is almost just as much as that of you coming across them shopping at Costco or Walmart.

Do not obsess over the Hollywood Sign

Yes, the Hollywood sign is an iconic landmark which has been a major tourist draw for decades now. And even though it is a point of interest that you can visit or click snaps against the backdrop once, it’s not something that you should obsess over. There are a zillion things in L.A. that are astronomically more fascinating than the oversized sign. In case you have too much time in your hand, then consider visiting The Grove, Frederick’s of Hollywood Lingerie Museum, La Brea Tar Pits and Museum and Los Angeles Maritime Museum. These are among the numerous underrated attractions in the city.

Do not rely on public transport

There is no dearth of public transport in Los Angeles. From public buses to subway system, you can take your pick to reach wherever you want to in the city. But it has its own drawbacks. Although it is a convenient option in some cases, that is not always true. Sometimes, public transport can take twice or even thrice the time than driving there. Cabs might seem like a better option but it can be a little tough on the pocket. Renting a car can be a great choice. Think about it. No waiting for cabs and you can zoom your way to any point of interest you want.

Do Not Try to explore the entire city

Nestled in the city of Los Angeles are a host of hotspots that keep tourists occupied during their time in the city. Disneyland, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Griffith Observatory, Santa Monica Pier, Sunset Strip, Venice Beach; there are countless attractions you can explore. And these are the prime reasons that persuade vacationers to board Mokulele flights and head over to L.A. But not all are worth the little precious time that you have in the city. Remember, quality matters more than quantity. Make an itinerary or at least a list of places you want to explore and immerse yourself in the best experiences L.A. has to offer.

Now that you know which things you should and more importantly, you shouldn’t, explore in The Big Orange, it’s time to grab some cheap airline tickets and get ready for a whale of a time.
