These are a few ways that can make you rise above the rest as a private security officer:
Don’t job hop: Most people tend to chase the higher wage, but have you stopped to consider what loyalty is worth? Employers still value loyalty. Become a loyal employee, and you will be rewarded. It takes time, but it is time well spent. This will make your resume stand out from others. There is nothing worse than a 15-page resume with a new job listed every month or so.
Go beyond the call of duty: Want to stand out? Then make yourself stand out with good deeds. Becoming a bodyguard is about a lot more than always being prepared for hand-to-hand combats. Simple gestures of kindness, respect for others, and honesty are some of the little things that will keep your name front and center when it comes time for promotions.
Stay out of trouble: To be a private security officer, you have to have an impeccable background. Remember this in your off time. Because what you do in your off time could very well end your career in the security industry.
Look good: Come to work clean and well-groomed each day. Make sure your uniform is clean and pressed and your boots or shoes polished. Hold your head up high and wear your uniform with pride.
Be flexible: Sometimes, you will be asked to take different shifts or fill in for a sick colleague. Do it willingly without hesitation. Your superiors will soon learn you are a team player.
Continuously train: Private security training is so very important. The more you know, the more you are certified, and the more valuable you become to a company.
