What Is The Sound Of A First Alert Smoke Or CO Alarm?
What is the sound of a Smoke Alarm
Kangaroo Point or CO alarm?
What's the difference between smoke and carbon monoxide alarms?
If your smoke, carbon monoxide, or combination detector goes
off and you don't test it, it's alerting you to a potentially dangerous
condition that has to be addressed right away. Ascertain that everyone in your
home is aware of the sound of your smoke and CO alarms, as well as what to do
if they are activated.
Three loud beeps, repeating emergency smoke
alarm
The alarm will beep three (3) times in a loud, repetitive
sequence when it detects smoke in your home. At 85 decibels, the First Alert
alarm sequences are exceptionally loud. Even sleeping persons will be alerted
to emergencies thanks to this industry-standard alarm setting.
What to Do If a Smoke Alarm Goes Off
If your smoke alarm detects smoke, it will emit a three-beep
alert pattern that is very loud.
·
Don't freak out; keep your cool.
·
Stick to your family's escape strategy.
·
Get out of the house as soon as you can.
·
Do not pause to change or collect anything.
·
Before you open a door, feel it with the back of
your hand.
·
If a door is cool, slowly open it.
·
Don't open a smoldering door.
·
Close all doors and windows unless you need to
escape through them.
·
Using a handkerchief, cover your nose and mouth
(preferably damp).
·
Take a few deep, brief breaths.
·
Please meet at the designated location outside
your home and conduct a headcount to ensure that everyone made it out safely.
·
From outside, call the Fire Department as
quickly as possible.
·
Give your address first, followed by your name.
·
For any reason, never return to a burning
structure.
Four loud sounds, recurring emergency carbon monoxide (CO) alarm
Your alarm will sound four (4) times in a loud, repeated
sequence with a high carbon monoxide level. At 85 decibels, the First Alert
alarm sequences are exceptionally loud. Even sleeping persons will be alerted
to emergencies thanks to this industry-standard alarm setting.
If the CO Alarm Goes Off, What Should You Do?
·
If carbon dioxide is detected, your alarm will
emit a four-beep sequence.
·
Toggle the Test/Silence switch.
·
Call your local emergency services, the fire
department, or 911 for assistance.
·
Move to fresh air as soon as possible, either
outside or through an open door or window.
·
Make a headcount to ensure that everyone is there.
·
Re-enter the premises or walk away from the open
door or window until an emergency responder has come, the premises have been
aired out, and your CO alarm has returned to normal.
If your CO alarm reactivates within 24 hours after following
steps 1-3, repeat steps 1-3 and call a qualified appliance technician to
investigate for CO sources from fuel-burning equipment and appliances and
inspect for proper operation of this equipment. If any issues are discovered
during the examination, have the equipment serviced right away. If the
technician did not inspect any combustion equipment, consult the manufacturer's
instructions or contact the manufacturer directly for more information about CO
safety for this equipment. Check to see whether any motor vehicles are
functioning in an attached garage or near the house.
