The main cause behind the development of KFD is the transmission of virus from vector Haemaphysalis spinigera, a forest tick and other animals including rats, squirrels, etc. The disease develops after the bite from nymphs (immature form) of the ticks or contact with sick or dead monkeys having infection. Although, KFD can't get transmitted from one human to another by any means of contact.
