Screenshot Facebook Pictures or Stories

Now the question arises, what really happens when you screenshot Facebook posts or stories? Does Facebook notify when you screenshot? Are there any features such as Facebook screenshot notifications?

How to take a screenshot of Facebook Protected?

Facebook Mobile App often disables the native screenshot function in Android for profile pictures or other photos protected by ‘Profile Picture Guard’ or other privacy options. Still, there are most third party apps that do not follow this rule. So you can use any third-party app available at the Google Play Store to take a screenshot of the phone display to get any photos on Facebook. However, here we are giving instructions to take a Facebook screenshot on profile pictures or stories not protected by the ‘Profile Picture Guard’ feature.

The most common question we come across by Facebook users is this – “Can you screenshot Facebook stories or posts?” answer to which is “YES.” You can surely take Facebook story screenshots as well as for pictures or status. The steps to take a Facebook screenshot are given below:

Android Mobile Phones

A Facebook screenshot can be taken in most android phones using the power button and volume down button together. As soon as you press the buttons simultaneously, a screenshot of your present screen will be there.

iOS Devices

For iOS devices, you can use the home button and the power button together to take a screenshot of your present screen. Press them at the same time, and your Facebook screenshot will be taken. You can find the screenshots in your mobile’s gallery/albums.

Windows or Mac Computers

You can use keyboard shortcuts to capture or take a screenshot on Facebook makes it the most convenient. With this method, you need to install additional programs or search for certain snipping websites:

  • You need to click the “PrtScn” button on your keyboard. It will automatically capture active windows on your desktop. After this, you need to open ‘Paint’ and paste the image with a shortcut ‘Ctrl+V’ and then save the captured image as JPEG or PNG format.
  • The only thing concerned with this method is that it cannot capture the full webpage but only the invisible part on the current screen. Along with that, you also cannot select a specific area to capture on Facebook. If you want to capture a selected area or parts of Facebook, then you can paste the image in ‘Paint’ and then crop and select that part and save.

For Mac, Webpage Screenshot Capture is a web application where no installation is needed, and it also works well with both Windows and Mac. It is free to use, and there are no restrictions whatsoever. To screenshot Facebook on Mac, you need to follow these steps:

  • You can save captured images on the cloud also. To do that, you need first to copy the Facebook URL you want to take a screenshot of and paste it in the tool’s bar. Now, take a screenshot and allow the Java notification to pop-up. After that, you need to wait until the grabbing process completes, after which you can share or edit the image according to your requirements.

How to take a screenshot of a long Facebook Post?

To take a screenshot of a long Facebook post, you need to follow the same method as given above. You can click on the ‘PrtScn’ button on the keyboard for the desktop version, and the whole page will be copied. After you press that button, open ‘Paint’ on your computer and then paste the picture there by pressing ‘Ctrl+V.,’ You can now save the image. If the post is too long and you want t capture it all at once, you can use the screen recording method on Android or iOS devices. There are mobile phones which gives you this feature to screen record.

How to take a screenshot without notifying the person?

You can follow the above methods to screenshot Facebook stories or posts. Facebook Screenshot Notification is not sent to users when you capture it since Facebook does not have that feature. To give a screenshot notification feature similar to Snapchat is quite impossible for Facebook as people can take a screengrab, and it is hard to tackle such tech hacks. This is why Facebook currently does not have the feature to notify a user whenever someone takes a Facebook story screenshot or even posts and shared images. So if you ask, “does Facebook tell when you screenshot a photo?” then ‘no’ it does not.

Does Facebook notify you or report when someone else screenshot a photo?

No, Facebook will not notify the person if you take a screenshot of their photo or story. Some users also ask this question, “Does Facebook Report Screenshots of someone’s Profile Picture?” The straight answer to this question is ‘No.’ Facebook’s privacy features do not have any updates that allow the user to notifications or report it.

Facebook Screenshot Update: 2020-2021

Social Media Applications like Snapchat and Instagram provides you with this feature of notifying you when you take a screenshot of pictures and stories. However, Snapchat gives this feature for private chats as well. When someone takes a screenshot of Snapchat stories, snaps/pictures sent by users to each other, or private chats, it suddenly pops up with this notification of the user who screenshotted it. On the other hand, Instagram provides this feature of notifying only on the pictures sent on private chats. It does not notify you when you are taking a screenshot of posts or stories. For Facebook, it is technically challenging to update its screenshot features like Snapchat or Instagram, as its desktop version does not allow such features to work.

Facebook Screenshot Security Policy:

When you screenshot a picture on Facebook:

Facebook’s Profile Picture Guard is a new privacy feature that disables the settings to share or download Profile Pictures from Facebook. It also halts others from tagging in your Profile Pictures, excluding your friends. When enabled, the Profile Picture guard ads a shield icon to your Profile Picture, signaling others to respect your Profile Picture Privacy.

Here is how you can allow profile picture guard on Facebook:

  • Firstly, from the Facebook home page, tap on the Profile Tab. The next step is to tap on your profile picture and choose the ‘Turn on the Profile Picture Guard’ option. Now you need to tap on the ‘Next’ option and then on ‘Save.’
  • You can also – login to your Facebook account and select a photo to upload. Under your profile name, tap the ‘Public’ button. Now to make your profile picture private, select ‘Only me.’ You can also share the picture with specific people by going to See more > Specific Friends. You need to select the people you want to share the photo with from the Facebook Friend List.

When you screenshot a story on Facebook:

If you want your particular friends from your account to view your Facebook story, then we would suggest you follow the steps given below to set up your privacy:

  • First of all, scroll down the menu and click on ‘Settings and Privacy.’ A drop-down menu will appear on the screen. Now you need to click on ‘Privacy Shortcuts.’
  • While you click on the privacy shortcuts, a new page will open up where you need to select the ‘See more privacy settings’ under the Privacy column.
  • Now, as the privacy settings page will open up, go to ‘Your Activity’ and click on ‘Who Can See Your Stories?’ Now either select ‘Friends’ if you want only your Facebook Friends to see your stories or else, choose ‘Custom,’ where you can select from your friends whom you want to see your stories.

Now you can easily protect your account from people outside your circle. This will also allow them not to see your story and take screenshots. So, in conclusion, you are not notified of Facebook screenshots. However, you can still take screenshots of photos, stories, and statuses on Facebook. We hope this blog was helpful to you.
