Do you know what ghee is? Ghee is actually produced by milk butter and is also known as clarified butter. Ghee is being used traditionally in Asian and Middle East countries for a long time. The traditional indigenous method is suitable for making a small quantity of ghee and it is not the right process for commercial ghee manufacturing. There are four methods of ghee production other than the traditional method. These are the creamery butter method, direct cream method, pre-stratification method, and continuous method. In all these methods, ghee is prepared from milk butter.

After knowing what ghee is, you should know its health benefits. Clarified butter is  free from lactose and casein which is perfect for lactose  intolerant people. Ghee is  good for your bones, brain development, better digestion and much more. To make the ghee clarified, butter is melted  in a slow cooking process and in this way  butter gets separated when it is boiled consistently and ultimately the butter gets separated into liquid fats and milk solids.

The liquid fats are the ghee, and with the use of a strainer, you can collect ghee in a jar for your use. Ghee offers a longer shelf-life, which means you can store ghee in a kitchen in a jar without the support of refrigeration.

Ghee and butter are not the same though they both of them  are dairy products. If compared on  the basis of nutrients, ghee and butter contains the same health friendly ingredients like Vitamin A, D, E, and K and different types of medium and short chain fatty acids like CLA and butyrate. But ghee is much healthier than butter. Being the purest form of  milk, ghee can be stored without refrigeration support for  12-18 months.
