What Else Can You Do to Earn Extra Money and Enjoy It

by Emma L. Business consultant

Millions of people are going to their work unhappy each day. They dread the idea of Monday and look forward to Friday immensely. If they could, they would quit doing it right away, but the bills won’t pay themselves. The worst thing about it is that they don’t even make enough money to enjoy the fruits of their labor. If you are one of those people, you have probably wondered if there are some additional jobs you can take on, that wouldn’t be as stressful and that would bring you extra money. Well, wonder no more. Here are some interesting side jobs you can do, while still not quitting your primary profession.

Start a blog

Blogging became a very profitable profession, and it is a great idea for a side job. If you like writing, it will be almost effortless. Do you have something that you are very passionate about? Do you know a lot about it? Is it fashion? Cooking? Movies? Books? Whatever it may be, starting a blog is a simple thing. There are numerous platforms for that, and some of them are completely free. All you need to do is sign up, choose a template and begin writing. Enabling ads, of course, is your road to earnings.

Start a podcast/vlog

This is similar to the previous job. The main topic of your podcast or video blog should be something you love talking about. However, for this job, you will need more equipment (a video camera, microphone, Dictaphone) and some skills, such as sound and video editing. Since the competition is very fierce, you should make sure to give a unique angle on the topic and provide both quality and entertainment.

Give your opinion

Did you know that you can get paid to say what you think? It’s true, there are companies that offer the possibility of doing paid surveys, where you can earn points for all the surveys you do and then redeem them for gift vouchers or cash. The topics of these surveys are different, and they range from electronics and appliances to politics and sports. The more of them you take, the more points you gather and the more cash or vouchers you get.

Go into stock photography

Photography is a beautiful way to express your creativity, and while not every one of us can be Ansel Adams and create artistic landscape photographs, we can learn some basics of photography, get quality equipment, find out which topics are the most wanted and start snapping pictures. There are many online services where you can upload and sell your photos to be used in publications and other places.

Cook, bake and make

Do you love cooking? Do people enjoy your delicious treats and can’t get enough of your baked goods? Well, there are ways to cash in on that. You can bake your own bread or muffins and take them to the local farmers’ market to sell. You can also start your own catering business and prepare finger food for birthdays and other celebrations.

Grow a garden

Speaking of things you can sell on the farmers’ market, have you ever thought about growing your own vegetable or herb garden? This can be immensely satisfying, because you get to spend time outside in nature, and you know that the food you are eating is healthy and natural. Also, by growing your own vegetables, you are eliminating the costs of meal ingredients for your family.

Craft

If you are not very proficient in cooking or growing plants, maybe you have skillful hands which can be used to make sketches, handmade jewelry or key chains. Perhaps you can sew bags or knit scarves and sweaters. These goods can later be sold on various online platforms, such as Etsy, and since crafts are rather appreciated today, you can even make a living out of them one day.

Buy and resell

If you don’t want to bother with making your own stuff, but you are very good at sales and marketing, as well as recognizing true value of things, you can use that to buy different things at flea markets, vintage shops, consignment stores and online, and then resell them for a slightly higher price.

Manage someone’s social media account

Can’t get enough of social media and know all the rules of Instagram, Facebook and Twitter? We’ve got the right job for you – a community manager. That’s right, there is a special profession with the task of managing social media accounts of people who are too busy to do that for themselves. Usually, those are either some companies or celebrities. Of course, don’t aim for Beyoncé just yet. Start small, and who knows where you will end up.

As you can see, getting out of the office and doing something fun, while earning money is possible. Find a job that is more of a hobby for you, do your best to be good at it, and wait for the money to start flowing in.
