  3. In case if the user has accidentally moved the company file to a different folder.
  4. If your company file name exceeds the limit of 64 characters.

Solution 1: Rectify Issues with the Company File

  1. QuickBooks company file issues like data damage can quickly be resolved by running QuickBooks File Doctor, which you can find in QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. Download and install QuickBooks Tool Hub, which you can find on the official QuickBooks website.
  3. Install it by running the setup file and agreeing to the license agreement.
  4. Run it and open QuickBooks File Doctor by going to the Company File Issues tab.
  5. Select the company file you want to repair and once it is fixed, retry to access it in QuickBooks.

Solution 2: Re-configure your Windows Firewall and Add QuickBooks Ports to it 

  1. Go to the Control Panel, and under the System and Security option, select Windows Firewall. 
  2. Move to the Advanced Settings and click Add Incoming Port option.
  3. Add the ports specific to your QuickBooks Desktop version and repeat the same steps to add the outgoing ports.

Solution 3: Rename and Move the Company File to the Original Folder 

  1. Search the company file on the system and right-click it to rename it. 
  2. Make sure the company file name is not exceeding the limit of 64 characters.
  3. Now move the company file to the original company file folder.
