What are the types of water purifiers and purifier price in India?

by Eureka Forbes Home Appliance Providers

One of the steps you should take for a healthy lifestyle is to drink pure, filtered water. There is a wide variety of water purifier models in the market and you would need to do your research on water purifiers prices and specifications before opting for one. So, which of the home water purifiers is the best choice for you?

RO purifiers: One of the most popular types of purifiers are the ones that follow the principle of reverse osmosis or RO purifiers. These purifiers are largely used in areas where there is a high concentration of TDS or total dissolved solids in the water. These are salts and minerals that make your drinking water hard. Reverse osmosis is a process in which water is forced through a membrane under a high pressure to eliminate the salts apart from other kinds of impurities in it. Reverse osmosis purifiers are the right choice for those areas where bore well water is supplied rather from a water body such as a tank or a lake. Purifiers with RO also come with many smart sensors which give out service alerts. The cartridges used in these purifiers help in retaining good salts that are essential for the body and eliminating the bad salts.

UF purifiers: Some purifiers are based on the ultrafiltration process which is similar to reverse osmosis. The only difference is that the membrane used in UF is a little more porous than the RO one.

UV purifiers: Ultraviolet purifiers or UV models help in eliminating micro-organisms such as germs and bacteria from the water. They are mostly used in areas where the water supply is from a source such as a lake or a tank. Water in a UV purifier has the same effect as water that has been boiled for about 20 minutes. Using a UV purifier helps you stay safe from waterborne diseases. UV purifiers also come with a range of intelligent features, and cartridges that enhance the taste of water and retain its essential minerals or salts.

Universal purifiers: Some purifiers combine both UV and RO features, and are called universal purifiers. They can be used under any circumstances — irrespective of whether you get bored well water or water supplied by your municipal corporation. They can remove all kinds of contaminants, from chemical impurities, salts to microorganisms.

Price range

Water purifier prices vary, depending on a variety of factors. The storage capacity is a key factor. The greater the storage, the higher the price. Also, other factors such as installation type (Wall mounting, table top, under the sink/counter etc) also make a difference. The most important aspect is the technology used.

A universal purifier that has all the best features of other models may be more expensive than the others but the advantages are huge. Even within the same brand, purifiers are categories under several ranges. Purifiers can start at Rs 2,500 for the most basic non-electricity, mesh-based models and go up to Rs 25,000 or more. Before you decide, check out all the models, their features and what is ideal for your home, and then buy the best one.
