What are the Treatment Options for Male Infertility?

by Shivani Sachdev Director at SCI IVF Hospital

Have you and your spouse been trying to conceive for a long time, but nothing seems to be working? It might be a matter of time. Unfortunately, however, male infertility is a factor in at least one-third of couples having trouble conceiving.

Male infertility may be caused by a low sperm count, blockages, aberrant sperm functions, chronic disorders, sickness, lifestyle choices, and trauma.

Treatment for male infertility

The best male fertility specialist in Delhi may suggest the following treatment options:

Medicines

If you have low testosterone levels (hypogonadism), your doctor may recommend gonadotrophin injections to boost your fertility if you have low testosterone levels (hypogonadism). These cause your body to create testosterone and sperm.

Retrograde ejaculation occurs when sperm is ejected backward into the bladder rather than via the urethra and out of the body. To assist plug the opening to your bladder, your doctor may prescribe drugs like pseudoephedrine.

If you're having difficulties achieving an erection, medications like sildenafil (Viagra®), tadalafil (Cialis®), or alprostadil may assist.

Medical devices

If you're having trouble obtaining an erection and medications like those listed above aren't helping, your doctor could recommend a vacuum pump. This includes inserting your penis into a tube and sucking out the air, allowing blood to flow into it. Your erection is maintained by wearing a constriction band around the base of your penis. After 30 minutes, you may take it off.

Surgery

A blockage in the tubes that transport sperm from your testicles to your penis is a common cause of no sperm in your sperm. Obstructive azoospermia is the medical term for this condition. Surgery to remove the obstruction and boost your fertility may be an option.

If you've had a vasectomy (surgical to prevent sperm from entering your sperm), you may be able to reverse the procedure by paying for it privately. Consult the best male fertility specialist in Delhi to see whether this is an option for you.

Your doctor may recommend surgery if you have varicoceles (swollen veins in your scrotum) and no other cause for your infertility. Although surgery for varicoceles may enhance the quality of your sperm, there isn't enough data to suggest that it improves your chances of having a child naturally. However, according to some data, it may boost fertility following assisted reproduction procedures.

Assisted reproduction

Suppose other therapies haven't worked or suited for you (assisted conception). There are a few options. Which option is best for the cause of your infertility will determine you? If you have a sperm production issue, some options include utilizing sperm given by another individual.

·       Intra-uterine insemination (IUI): This may assist if you have difficulties sustaining an erection and finding it difficult to have sex. When your spouse ovulates, you place sperm (yours or a donor's) into her womb. In addition, your spouse may need to take medications to stimulate the production of eggs in her ovaries.

·       In vitro fertilization (IVF): In a laboratory, your partner's eggs are mixed with sperm (yours or a donor's). The goal is to fertilize some of the eggs to form. Then, one or more of the embryos may be implanted into the uterus of your partner, resulting in a pregnancy.

·       Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI): Individual eggs are fertilized by putting sperm into them in a laboratory. If you have a low sperm count or trouble having sex, ICSI may be advised, or ICSI may be used in conjunction with IVF.

Conclusion

Male infertility treatment in Delhi is performed differently depending on the reason. When a particular cause of infertility is identified, it is occasionally feasible to treat it. For example, hormonal therapy, surgery to repair clogged tubes, and treatment of infections or underlying medical disorders are available therapeutic options.
