What Are The Benefits of Modular Switches?
If
you are looking to install new switches in residential or commercial setting, modular switches are the latest trend. There
are different types of switches including the one-way and two-way switches, but
all these different options are available in modular designs. Find out the benefits
and features of modern switches and how they can add more value to your home or
office.
Modular Switches
The
latest types of switches are safer, easier to use and more elegant. These
modern switches are referred to as modular
switches. They are available in more color and design options than ever
before. Some of the key benefits of these switches are as following:
- Safety:
These switches feature child-proof sockets and don't expose any kind of
current-carrying parts.
- Aesthetics:
These are truly the best electric
switches available. You can find switches that perfectly match your
room décor. They are available in different colors to match the walls.
- Versatile:
These switches can be multi-functional and used to connect different types
of appliances. They can also be used for telephone or data communication
connections.
One-Way & Two-Way Switches
One-way
and two-way switches are the most commonly used switches. The one way switch works as a break switch.
When you turn it on, it simply connects the two terminals. It is ideally suited
for applications in small areas like rooms, stores, and washrooms.
Two-Way Switches
Two-way
switches are nothing more than two one-way switches combined together. But they
have one of the terminals merged to just one switch and not both at any given
time. So when one connection is made, the other is broken. So the key
difference between the two is that the 1 way switch has 2 contacts and the 2 way switch has 3 contacts. Two-way
switches allow you to control lights or appliances from two locations. So if
you want to control a light in a long hallway from both ends, you can install two-way
switches at both ends. So whenever you need to walk through the walkway, you
can turn on the light from either end.
What
differentiates the 2 way switch is
that it doesn't have a specific ON/OFF position. Just flip any of the two
switches and the light will turn ON and OFF. On the other hand, a 1-way switch has
a specific ON and OFF position. The 1 way switch is the most commonly used switch
in residential settings. The wiring of both the switches is different. Additional
wires need to be installed in the two-way switch so that both the switches can
work together.
There
are even more types of switches, including the three-way and four-way switches.
They use even more complicated installation and mechanism, but make complicated
ON/OFF applications simpler. All these different switches are available as modular
switches in designs and colors of your choice. Conventionally, white
was the standard color and there was no flexibility in terms of switch shapes. But
you can now find switches in different colors, shapes and sizes to match your interior
décor.
