What are the Basic Debugging Steps for Cummins Diesel Generator Set

by Dieselgenerator Tech ***

Dingbo Power Electricity Generator Series, Cummins diesel generator sets needs to undergone rigorous functional tests before they leave the factory, and they must be commissioned and accepted to check whether the functions of the unit itself and the supporting equipment are normal before they were put into use. The debugging of Cummins diesel generator set is mainly to check and adjust the fuel delivery pump, fuel injection pump, governor, fuel supply amount and valve clearance of the valve train in the fuel supply system of the diesel generator set.

The Basic Debugging Steps for Cummins Diesel Generator Set

The inspection and debugging steps of Cummins generator are as follows:

1. Measurement of insulation resistance. The insulation resistance measurement of the generator can determine the insulation status of all live parts to the casing. When the Cummins generator is cold, it does not have any external leads for measurement and inspection.

2. Measurement of winding resistance. The resistance of Cummins generator windings is not only related to the loss of the generator, but also has an impact on the generator's characteristic parameters such as excitation voltage and short-circuit current. The size of the winding DC resistance is related to the wire size and the winding type. There are many methods for measuring the DC resistance of wires, and the bridge measurement method is usually used, which is accurate and simple.

3. Cummins generator heating test inspection. Self-excited AC generators rely on residual magnetization to build up the voltage. For brushless excitation  generators, the residual voltage is relatively high. When the excitation circuit is short-circuited, there is still a certain output voltage. The newly assembled generator has no remanence, so the stator winding of the exciter should be energized by direct current before starting. Cummins generators that have been put on hold for a long time also need to be magnetized before they can be self-excited before being reused.

Cummins diesel generator set generator heating test inspection, the method is: after the unit is turned on, keep the output voltage, power unchanged, constant current, stable operation of the unit, record the ambient temperature and bearing temperature every 0.5h, and test the armature current, electrical Pivot voltage, exciter excitation current, excitation voltage, frequency and temperature at various points. The test inspection is carried out for 1 hour, and if the excitation voltage, temperature, etc. do not exceed the specified values, it is considered qualified.

4. Adjustment of excitation device.

5. Adjustment of the differential adjustment device.

6. Check the air filter.

7. Inspection of anti-condensation heater.

8. Debugging of the control panel: After the Cummins diesel generator set is installed, the electrical part of the control system should be inspected and debugged before it can be put into operation.

All units of Dingbo Power Electricity needs to undergo strict unit commissioning after installation at the user site and before the official commissioning, and can be put into use only after the customer's acceptance.
