What are Pollinators?

Pollination takes place when the pollen is moved within the flower or are carried away from flowers to flowers by the pollinating agents, birds, bees, bats, butterflies, moths, beetles, or other animals, or by the wind. The natural habitat agents that help in pollination are known as pollinators, and the seeds disbursed and propagated are known as pollinator seeds.

Why Pollinators are Important?

Pollinators are essential in creating and maintaining the environment and the ecosystems that many lives rely on for food and shelter. Pollinators facilitate reproduction in 90% of the world’s flowering agents.

Pollination is mutually beneficial to both plants and the pollinators. Pollination helps in the production of seeds and is an essential factor in reproduction. The sweet nectar provides carbohydrates to pollinators and, in turn, receives proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and essential phytochemicals.

Pollinators such as bees help us to get one bite out of every three bites of food that we consume, and the plants won’t thrive in their absence.

Environmental Benefits of Pollination

Clean Air

The flowers inhale carbon dioxide and release oxygen, adding fresh and clean air to the environment. In the absence of pollinators, the plant population will decline drastically, causing a clean air deficit in the atmosphere.

Water & Soil Conservation

Flowering plants aid in water purification and prevents soil erosion. Plants help to release moisture in the air, and the pollinators help the plants in propagation.

How to Save Pollinators from Extinction

Give Bees Nesting Place

Bees are the real pollinators, and it is active participation in pollination. The individual female bee lay their eggs in rotten wood or soil. Either you can keep the patch or the wood within the garden or can make artificial wooden houses to thrive.

Avoid Pesticides

grow your garden organically, avoiding the use of pesticides and insecticides that will harm the pollinators.

Conclusion

Pollinator seeds are produced from the active participation of pollinators, and they receive nutrients to thrive and in return gives active nutrients to human. It helps the biodiversity of the planet and helps to maintain the Eco-balance of the earth.
