What is child tax credit?

To support the low income families with children, HMRC pays child tax credit (CTC) benefit to them. In addition to the child benefit, a family received the CTC and they can claim it irrespective of the fact that the family is working or not. There are so many parents getting child tax credit, make sure you are not missing this opportunity. It covers the various elements such as a child element, a disabled child element and a family element.

You will get the child element for up to two children. How much Child Tax Credit will you get depends on your income and circumstances, for example if your child is disabled.

Who can claim Child Tax Credit?

CTC (Child Tax Credit) can be claimed for the people:

  • Responsible for a child under 16.
  • Responsible for a young person under 20 in certain types of education or training.
