Weight Loss For Life
Losing weight can be challenging. Most people struggle with dieting all of their lives. They bounce from one diet to the next, each one failing to get permanent results.
CAUTION: Do not waste your time on “dieting” until you resolve underlying issues.
Fact: New Report from UCLA suggests “Dieting” just does NOT work.
Chances are good that if you are reading this page, you have struggled with the pain of losing weight only to gain it back again. You are not alone. According to Dr. Traci Mann, UCLA Professor of Psychology found that over 2/3 of people who lose weight on any diet end up gaining back even more weight over time. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
Janet Tomiyama, Dr. Mann’s research assistant states that "Several studies indicate that dieting is actually a consistent predictor of future weight gain."
So what is the answer? Do not bother dieting in the first place? Certainly if you want to lose weight and become healthy, you are going to need to find a healthy way to lose weight.
Perhaps it will help to understand why diets fail in the first place. Then you can perhaps understand how you can lose weight for life.
Stress is a huge reason why many diets fail. Dieting causes stress which ultimately lead to an increase in appetite and weight gain. This is the reason people experience uncontrollable binging, which makes long term weight loss nearly impossible. Have you ever cheated on a diet? Surely, you can relate to this problem.
Uncontrollable cravings occur as a result of calorie deprivation. When people are eating a low calorie diet, the brain actually commands the body to eat. It sends out signals that drive hunger, slow down your metabolism and actually causes uncontrollable cravings.
Night time eating can be caused by dieting. When you eat close to bedtime, you will put on fat. This is because you are not using the calories. Hormones get in the way of your body’s ability to burn fat and sleep well.
Emotional eating is another large problem to a dieter’s experience. Many overeat due to their changing emotions. It is perfectly normal; however, being able to control your emotions is essential if you are going to see any real long term weight loss success.
Overcoming all of these challenges is what makes weight loss so difficult for people. However, if you are able to move beyond the diet mindset to a healthier lifestyle with health as your overall goal, you will be able to see successful and sustainable weight loss. Controlling your emotions, reducing stress, and feeding your body the calories and nutrients it needs throughout your day will all help in terms of losing weight and keeping it off for good. It may seem like an impossible feat, but once you realize that you don’t need to diet and instead need to change your lifestyle, making healthy choices, you’ll be well on your way to a healthier, slimmer and more vibrant you.
