It’s been quite some time since the release of “WarCraft 3″ that talk about “WarCraft 4″ seems expected; however, according to Forbes’ article, it might be a little bit far-fetched.

Talk surrounding “WarCraft 4″ started during this year’s Gamescom, where the possibility for “WarCraft 4″ was opened after a successful launch of “StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void.” Tim Morten, producer of the game, even said, “…I think we’ll get together as a team and talk about what would inspire us to work on next…we’ll consider WarCraft, StarCraft, or even new ideas.”

The article explains in length that there is danger in thinking that RTS may have a future, since there is a shift towards MOBAs for most game-makers, Blizzard included. Despite sales figures showing highs of 4.5 million copies a month or 1.1M copies after launch, “StarCraft 2″ hasn’t really showed official sales figures.

The trend could become the defining factor for “WarCraft 4’s” existence.

Meanwhile, Game Rant’s report focuses on a re-release of “WarCraft 3″ instead of “WarCraft 4.” Instead of doing anything, the game is simply undergoing an update to make it an eye-catcher on some of today’s powerful systems. It is currently selling on the Battle.net store for $9.99 apiece beside older titles such as “Diablo II.”

According to the article, Blizzard is also learning the value of small groups running games. The same was successful in Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm. This has led into the cancellation of its next-gen MMO Titan, and has also been exploring ways to improve exposure of their games. Most fans only discovered Blizzard through WoW back in 2004.

“WarCraft 4,” according to Game Rant’s report, would be tough to insert into the lore of WarCraft. “WarCraft 3″ shifted right into WoW shortly after the game’s release, and the MMO has drastically changed the appearance of the world of Azeroth. Either Blizzard finds a way to creatively sneak in “WarCraft 4″ into that lore, or they create a new game altogether.
