Want to become an executive protection professional?

by Executive Protection Institute EPI was founded in 1978

If you wish to be successful in a particular field, you need to have specialized or formalized education. This is so you have the primary and advanced skills required to succeed in your desired job. Similarly, people entering the executive protection field are also expected to have advanced and formal executive protection training

Bodyguard training is now a component of executive protection which has changed drastically over the past 25 years. Earlier, there was a time when any huge, physically fit man that had an intimidating presence could have been employed as a bodyguard, AKA executive protection specialist. Nevertheless, in this new world, both men and women are working in this field, and having your training done from a reputable executive protection school is considered the key to succeeding in the field. These institutions will ensure that they train your physical strength, agility, and endurance as a part of their curriculum.

In most cases, you will have a hard time finding proper employment—either as an individual or with a team—without having any formalized executive protection training from a registered institution. It is also critical for you to remember that you will have to excel in your path as an executive protection specialist.

Just because you graduated from an executive protection school doesn't mean that you know everything there is to know about the field. It would be best if you kept learning new things constantly. The more training and experience you have, the better off you will be, and the more success you will get as an executive protection specialist.

What exactly is executive protection?

What do we mean by executive protection? You could say that executive protection is 99% general protection stuff and 1% life-threatening situations. As an executive protection expert, we are always preparing for that 1%. There are numerous occupations and activities which are sometimes confused with executive protection. Still, before we go too deep into the topic, it seems appropriate to define what is—and what is not—executive protection.

Executive protection ideally refers to the numerous measures and countermeasures taken to ensure the well-being and physical safety of a VIP. A few of these protection measures include development and advanced work, close protection, surveillance, research on clients and all specific threats known and perceived, countersurveillance, mail screening, employee background check, and people coming in contact with your client. Even though the definition is comprehensive and lengthy, it is stuffed with complex meanings and a detailed description of all the profession's activities. Nevertheless, ensuring your client's physical safety and well-being is the end goal of any executive protection professional.

The important thing that you need to consider is that for an executive protection professional, the main goal is not to save someone who is already in danger but to keep a person from dangerous situations.

If you feel like you have what it takes to be an executive protection professional, you need to start working on yourself from today. Try and find a school that gives you all the required training you need to be the best version of yourself.
