Deciding to take a step this big might be scary, but that is nothing when compared to the excitement you feel, right? Being ready to be a parent and switching your priorities from yourself  to a new little being is quite a decision.

But, first thing’s first – you need to get pregnant. This may not go according to your plans and it may be frustrating and stressful, but if you only keep your eyes on the prize, this time of suspense will just go by and you won’t even remember it later. So, let’s see what you can do to speed up that process.

The Right Timing

Like with everything else, getting pregnant is all about the right timing. If you have been trying for a month or two without any success, you should consult your biological clock and see what your most fertile days are.

Calculating this can’t be easier – you can use an online calculator to show you when you’re ovulating, which is just the right time to work on conceiving.

Eat Healthy

However, before and after you conceive, you should create an appropriate environment for your baby’s healthy development. Other than eating healthy, regularly, and focusing on nutritional meals and not on junk food, you can also increase your chances of getting pregnant by taking folic acid and calcium, which is actually something you should continue to do during pregnancy.

It’s not a bad idea to pick up a cooking class in this period, especially if you’re an amateur in the kitchen area. Being pregnant will require from you to rest a lot, and cooking is a fun activity that’s beneficial for you and the baby.

Get Rid of Bad Habits

Addictions are not easy to kick off, but this is not the time to be immature about that. As we already mentioned in the beginning, this is the time when your priorities should switch and all your concentration should go to the well-being of your future child.

So, if you have any bad habits, you should deal with them before you even start conceiving, as far as I’m concerned. Quitting smoking and alcohol is a shock for your body and mind, as well as getting pregnant, which is why you should do one thing at a time.

Consult Professionals

Some couples decide to do fertility tests right away, and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, this isn’t something you should be bothered with in the first couple of months, but if six months or so go by, my suggestion is to consult a professional.

With a matter as delicate as this, you should go with medical professionals you find pleasant and don’t settle for anything less than that. If things get stressful, you’ll want someone supportive and capable right by your side.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Well, this is one piece of advice all medical experts will agree upon – you need to consummate sex every chance you get and not only on those days when you’re ovulating, although you should double your efforts during that period.

And, I’d like to emphasize another important thing – don’t give up hope. Many couples out there managed to conceive with very little chance for success, so you shouldn’t give in to your worries even when things get hard. The bottom line is that pregnancy isn’t your only option to have a child – you can hire a surrogate or adopt. All these options are there to give you a family and that is the thing you actually want.

That is it for now. If you require a professional piece of advice, you should go straight to your doctor – reading stuff online can be misleading and it will only get you off track. Have in mind that stress and panic affect your body and the best thing to do while you trying is to find a way is to relax. Good luck!
