Visit the Dinh Cau Rock: One of the biggest attractions in Phu Quoc is its famous Dinh Cau Rock or Dinh Cau Temple. It can be found in Duong Dong Town at the entrance of the Duong Dong River. Built in 1937, it served the dual purpose of a lighthouse and a Buddhist temple. The temple is dedicated to the local Goddess of the sea (Thien Hau) and is believed to protect vessels and fishermen who fish in the seas in the area. Climb up the stairs and visitors can get a great view of the coastline. It is a great place to visit at sunset when the place is bathed in a golden light that gives it a surreal appearance.
Dive in Hon Thom: A good spot to dive to see coral reefs is Hon Thơm, which is the largest island in the area. Most of the islanders live on the east and west coasts of the island and have two houses on either sides of the island. They move from one house to the other house due to the change in seasonal winds with the change in seasons known locally as ‘mua nam’ and ‘mua truong’. Visitors to Hon Thom can choose to travel either on an organised cruise tour or by taking any passenger boat, which travel on the route between Hon Thom and An Thoi. It offers a very peaceful and laid back atmosphere and is a great place to relax!
Swim in Da Ban Spring: The beautiful Da Ban Spring lies in the centre of Phu Quoc Island and is 16km from Duong Dong town. The stream flows down from a high mountain range down large natural flat stone slabs. It is a calm and peaceful site with limited visitors and great natural beauty. Visitors could choose to swim or even fish in its streams. There are a number of caves which make for a great picnic spot also!
