Vaping Device Maintenance Tips, Part by Part

by Kevin Smith Author

When you vape, you inhale the vapor from a dry herb or e-juice through an electronic cigarette (e-cig) or a vaporizer (vape for short). A battery source, or mod, heats the coil that vaporizes the e-liquid contained in a small chamber or atomizer. You draw in this gaseous substance through a mouthpiece.

Like all other electronics, you must maintain your vaping device's parts from time to time to keep it in good working condition. Here are some tips:

The Tank

Your e-liquid is held in the vape tank, which is typically combined with the atomizer. If you're switching flavors, cleaning this thoroughly before pouring a new e-juice will remove any hint of the previous kind. Otherwise, you might taste your new vanilla concentrate with yesterday's espresso. There are two ways of doing this. In both cases, you have to detach the tank from the mod, remove any remaining liquid in it, and completely disassemble it.

One way to clean the tank components is to wash them in a bowl of warm water. If they're too dirty, add a few drops of dish soap. Use a paper towel to dry any excess water off, then set them aside to finish drying thoroughly for 10 to 15 minutes before reattaching them to your device.

The other process is to wipe the tank components with a paper towel or cloth dampened with high-proof vodka and rinsing them with warm water. Let the parts air-dry, and then put it back together.

The Coil

This is that element in your vape that, when heated enough, will vaporize the e-liquid. A coil that's too dirty will affect the amount of vapor and the quality of flavor it produces.

There are two types: replaceable and rebuildable coil tanks. The replaceable variant is enclosed in a small compartment with an absorbent wick. Clean this by soaking it in vinegar, ethanol, or vodka for a few hours. Rinse it with distilled water, then let it dry under the sun or with a heater.

If you're using the rebuildable one, remove the wicks from it first. Dry-burn the coil by pulsing the fire button a few times until any remaining liquid is removed. Detach the atomizer from the mod and rinse it under running water. Use a toothbrush or a cleaning tool to brush this part lightly. Rinse again in warm water. Do another dry burn to eliminate excess moisture.

However, if you may need to buy a new coil in a vape shop in Providence, RI if you see the following signs:

It's too dark, damaged, or crusted

You taste something "burnt" even after cleaning your vape

        The atomizer is leaking

The Battery

The power source of your vaping unit needs proper care, as well. Make sure that the battery is always charged to prevent leakage. Don't ever fully drain it. After the power has replenished, let it rest for a while before turning your device back on. Doing this will make your battery last longer.

The E-Juice

To preserve your e-liquid's flavor, store them in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. You can also keep them in the fridge.

Maintaining your vape will ensure you the best smoking experience. However, if some components no longer work as desired even after being cleaned, consider buying spare parts or a new unit altogether in a vape shop in Providence, RI.
