If you have children, or even one kid for that matter, traveling may come with some added concerns. After all, that’s what responsible parenting is all about! But you can’t really put off a lovely, and much awaited vacation to Orlando’s Disney World for fear of the unexpected. Which is why, the best way to ward off the evils of the unexpected is by…well…expecting. Some careful planning can do wonders in reducing your anxiety, making your family vacation one that you and your kids will remember for years.

Just keep these things in mind:

1.     Choose A Vacation Home Over A Hotel

If you’ve made reservations in a hotel, you’re constantly going to worry about your kids causing a commotion. In addition to that, you end up spending a lot more on the room charges to get a bigger room to cater to your family needs. In this instance, when it comes to comfort and affordability, go for vacation rentals! That offers them plenty of space to play and options to participate in activities like swimming, running in the yard, and so on. Check out some luxury Orlando vacation homes and vacation resorts here.

2.     Travel Light – But Carry All Essentials

When travelling with kids, we end up carrying extra clothes, toys and diapers – and yet, somehow, you find yourself wishing you’d brought more: the giraffe stuff toy instead of the lion; more pants; the bottle sterilizer. Make a list. Start with the essentials first, that you absolutely cannot do without. Next, move on to the secondary items like additional clothes, toys, etc. If you’re staying for two weeks, there’s no need to carry 14 pairs of outfits. Pack for a week, and then wash them after a few days.

3.     Schedule In Naps

Just because it’s a vacation does not mean your kids should go without their regular afternoon naps if they’re accustomed to it. Plan the day’s activities where you can manage a quick trip back to your vacation rental so that your kids can grab a nap, while you enjoy a time-out, as well.

4.     Carry Their Favorite Distractions & Snacks On The Trip

When you’re traveling – road or air – or just indoors within the safe confines of the rental home, your kids will get irritable, looking for something to do and anything to eat. Their favorite snacks may not be available in Orlando. So, make sure you bring along these essentials from home so that they are kept content and busy when you’re not out partaking in the adventures of the city.

5.     Educate Your Kids

When your kid begins school, it’s normal for parents to teach them about “stranger danger” and other key emergency facts that will keep them safe. The same holds true for when you’re vacationing. In fact, it is most crucial then! In the event that you get separated in a busy and crowded amusement park, you need to educate them so that it doesn’t turn into a crisis. Either ask them to meet you at an easy location within the premises (if the child is old enough), or put an emergency contact information in their pocket and ask them to provide that to the first security official they spot.
