Uses of 53 grade cement for Everyday constructions
Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) is among the most
recognized building material that is widely used throughout the world. The name
Portland was given by Joseph Aspdin, a British cement manufacturer in 1824. The
name was given because of its likeness to the Portland Stone.
OPC 53 Grade Cement: Key Features
The primary chemical component of the OPC are
Silica, Calcium, Iron and Alumina. There has been a continuous study in
ensuring there is an improvement in the strength and quality of the cement
produced. 53 Grade Ordinary Portland Cement
is a higher cement and cement factory
are doing their best to match the growing demands for a higher building
material in the building process. This grade of cement has been the ideal
choice of construction companies and has been applied in the following
applications.
The ideal applications are:
- High-rise buildings
- All types of R.C.C. works
- Industrial works
- Pre-stressed concrete work like bridges, silos, etc.
- Pre-cast elements such as Railway sleepers and concrete poles
Looking at different grades of cement that is
available, none can be compared to the 53 grade OPC because it gives a
consistent high strengthen when compared to other grades. As per the Bureau of
Indian Standards (BIS), the grade number of a cement highlights the minimum
compressive strength that the cement is expected to attain within 28 days. For
53 Grade OPC Cement, the minimum compressive strength achieved by the cement at
the end of the 28th day shouldn’t be less than 53MPa or 530 kg/sqcm.
Some
interesting fact about the 53 Grade cement
OPC 53 Grade and OPC
43 Grade Cement are more alike
in their chemical composition but the difference is the grinding process. The
higher grades at the final stages of the grinding word is much smoother and
finer. This quality has an impact on the strength and durability of the cement.
The Packing of the 53 Grade cement.
· In India for example, the 53 grade OPC is in two packing
· The weight of each bag is 50 kg and packed and sealed in a polypropylene bags.
· Bulker cement which is supplied in tankers specially built to transport cements. They are sold in tonnages and mostly used by ready mix concrete plants.
