Use the power of the cover letter
When people apply for a job, we tend to just send the resume, forgetting about the opportunity to send a cover letter as a great addition. It actually lets us cover a qualification we cannot fully explain in the resume. It suits any type of job, so don’t hesitate to send a cover letter if you apply for a position, for example, in NYC barbershops. Learn how to write it and use its potential.
1. Greeting
It represents your knowledge about the company. You should avoid salutations like “To whom it may concern. The best option is to address to the hiring manager if you know his or her name, but make sure you also know his or her title (like Ms. or Mrs).
2. First paragraph
Apparently short, this part should be written in 1-2 sentences, where you need to mention the position you are applying for and how you have found the job listing.
3. Body
One paragraph is enough for the body part of the letter. You will need to explain here why you consider yourself qualified for the position, your working experiences connected with the job, and your willingness to work for this particular company.
4. Final paragraph
Here you should state you look forward to interviewing you and discussing your further qualification. Don’t forget to include your contact information (phone number, email, etc.).
Mention that your resume is attached and thank for the time.
End up with a classic “Sincerely” or “Best” and finish with your full name. Hope for best and wait for the response.
