Pools made from fiberglass material has to go through a whole lot of efforts when undergoing the manufacturing process. There are strong calculations to be made before installing one such pool.  These pools are primarily manufactured using a technology known as Cross-Lynx Composite Technology to ensure the highest form of durability and strength.

Let’s have a look at the manufacturing process:

o   Spraying the gel coat onto the mold

o   Applying the chopped fiberglass with vinyl ester resin

o   Applying the chopped fiberglass with polyester resin

o   Applying woven roving at stress points to provide additional strength

o   Applying structural comb materials for better support

o   Applying the final layer of fiberglass with the best grade polyester resin

o   Allow for the pool time to cure

o   Removing the pool shell from the mold

o   Trimming the excess fiberglass

o   Quality check for the pool shell

Spraying the gel coat onto the mold

This is the first layer (the inside finishing touch). This is the layer that’s visible before your eyes when the pool is placed on the ground for swimming purpose. This layer is applied as a gel and then being hardened using the process of polymerization. It helps in creating a super smooth structure and promises algae-resistance.

Applying the chopped fiberglass with vinyl ester resin

Next, it is all about applying the first layer of fiberglass (nicely chopped) being mixed with vinyl ester resin. It helps in creating a perfectly watertight barrier and creates a separation from the next shell layer.

Applying woven roving at stress points to provide additional strength

The roving being applied is basically a woven mesh made from glass fibers. It is often preferred due to its higher flexibility rate. Henceforth, it is being used on the most flexible areas of the pool like the side walls and the areas where these walls meet the floor areas of the pool.  However, keep in mind that flex in high amount may result in cracking the gel coat. Keep this in mind and ensure that the perfect balance is maintained.

Applying structural comb materials for better support

High-quality honeycomb materials are being used to form the ribs that help in preventing the side walls of the pool from facing a bulging appearance. The best quality fiberglass pools also feature structural comb material placement underneath for greater support and resistivity.

Applying the final layer of fiberglass with the best grade polyester resin

The application of polyester resins prevents the chances of blister formation and also protects the pool from moisture.

Allow the pool time to cure

A minimum of one full day is required to get the pool shell sets out properly in the corner.

Removing the pool shell from the mold

Once the fiberglass pool shell part is completely fixed, four chains are attached to the pool shell and then raised it off the mold. If the release is smooth and even, it clearly indicates that the shell is not being stuck to the mold.

There are different vendors for fiberglass pools Australia. Which one would you be choosing is an entirely personal preference but researching a bit more would help in making the correct pick.
