Understanding the Kingdom of God

The phrase ‘Kingdom of God’ appears over 80 times in the New Testament. Most of these orientations befall in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. While the particular term is not found in the Old Testament, the presence of God’s Kingdom is articulated likewise in the Old Testament. The dominant theme of Jesus Christ’s evangelization was the Kingdom of God. But what is meant by this expression? Is the kingdom of God a corporeal place or a contemporary spiritual truth? Who are the focuses of this kingdom? And does the kingdom of God exist today or only in the forthcoming? 

As the Bible says

The Kingdom of God is the realm where God sways ultimate, and Jesus Christ is Tsar. In this kingdom, God’s authority is documented, and his will is followed. The notion of a Kingdom of God is not chiefly one of space, terrain, or politics, as in a general kingdom, but somewhat one of kingly rule, reign, and autonomous control.  

Jesus and the kingdom

• John the Baptist began his ministry proclaiming that the kingdom of heaven was approaching. Then Jesus took over: “From that time Jesus commenced to preach, saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Jesus trained his supporters how to enter the Kingdom of God: “Not one and all who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the resolve of my Father who is in heaven.
• The parables Jesus told illuminated the truth around the Kingdom of God: “And he responded them, ‘To you, it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them, it has not been given. Similarly, Jesus advised his followers to pray for the coming of the Kingdom: “Pray then like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom comes, you will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
• The apostle Paul said the Kingdom was part of our current spiritual life: “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but virtue and concord and joy in the Holy Spirit. Paul likewise taught that supporters of Jesus Christ enter into the Kingdom of God at redemption: “He has transported us from the sphere of darkness and relocated us to the realm of his beloved Son.”

 

Coming to a Concrete Conclusion

So, the modest way to comprehend the Kingdom of God is the kingdom where Jesus Christ supremacies as King and God’s authority is highest. This Kingdom exists here and now in the lives and hearts of the chosen, in addition to in faultlessness and fullness in the future.
