U-18 I-League final phase to kick off in Kolkata

The U-18 I-League season has grabbed a considerable amount of attention from the fans this season and the final phase is all set to kick off in the city of Kolkata. Come 27th January, the final phase of the U-18 I- League season will have ten participating teams from different regions of the country.
 
The All India Football Federation has considerably emphasized upon the development of the game at a grassroot level in the country. As of now, the ten teams have been divided into two groups and two teams will qualify for the semi finals leading to the finals at large. 

As the President of the All India Football Federation, minister Praful Patel has taken several important steps for the progress of the game in the country. The commencement of the U-18 I- league stands out as quite a significant achievement as fresh talent can be spotted and harnessed for the future.

 Pune Football Club (Champions: Maharashtra zone); Royal Wahingdoh (Champions: Shillong-Guwahati zone); East Bengal (Runners Up: Kolkata-Jamshedpur zone); Salgaocar FC (Runners Up: Goa zone) and Aizawl FC (Qualifiers: Rest of India II) will contest in group B.

 Tata Football Academy (Champions: Kolkata-Jamshedpur zone); AIFF Elite Academy (Champions: Goa zone); Sports Authority of India- Guwahati (Runners Up: Shillong-Guwahati zone); DSK Shivajians FC (Runners Up: Maharashtra zone) and Lonestar Kashmir FC (Qualifiers: Rest of India I) comprise group A, who will contest at Howrah Stadium.

The matches are all set to be played at the East Bengal ground at 10: 45 AM and 2:15 PM on alternate days. The semi finals are slated to kick off on 7th January with the finals scheduled to begin on 10th February, 2016. 
Under the Praful Patel biography, youth development schemes pertaining to Indian football has been followed in a meticulous way. As per Sunando Dhar, CEO of the I-League, ““U-18 I-League is the pathway towards the next step of Indian Football. 

The purpose of the U-18 I-League is nothing but to bolster the senior teams and our national team.” “When more players, akin to Lallianzuala, will come to the forefront and make into the national team, the purpose of U-18 I-League will be served. Certainly we’re on the right path towards a better future and we have to continue the process till the goal is attained.”
