Types of sensors & their applications you should know

by Shawn William Creative Writer

Life is made easier. Do you know why? Mostly for the sensors. A wide number of sensors have surrounded us. But we are unaware of those sensors. However, we can realize their importance when one of those stops working. Or malfunction.

In a nutshell, a sensor senses something. Confused? A sensor helps to detect something. It detects smoke, lights, movements, temperature, and more. Accordingly, there are various types of sensors.

In this post, you will get brief ideas about few sensors and their applications. Let’s start.

Light Sensors

They are also familiar with photo sensors. As the name suggests, they react to lighting conditions. As a result, we get various types of finest images through cameras. In fact, the camera technology largely depends on light sensors. Measuring the light, it reacts to the intensity of the light. And we can click the photos.

Proximity Sensors

Usually, the key role of a proximity sensor is to detect objects. It will detect if there is any object in any place. They use various elements and techniques for detection. The sensors are mostly used in cell phones, cars, and aircraft.

Temperature sensors

As the name suggests, they react to temperature. It measures the temperature. In fact, if you want to know the changes in the temperature, you can use the sensor. Such sensors are mostly used for a weather forecast. They can detect changes in the temperature, wind, and other climatic conditions. They are available in both digital and analog formats.

IR Sensors

IR or infrared sensors work using light. They are also useful for object detection. Interestingly, they are not visible to bare eyes. IR sensors can transmit and reflect. So, they are used in mobile phones, robots, and automobiles.

Tilt Sensors

Tilt sensors decide the tilting of any object or element. Usually, the sensors are from mercury but you can find them with roller ball as well. Did you ever notice while playing video games on mobile, why you tilt the phone? And how the tilt impacts the game? This is all about the tilt sensor.
