Twitter is a popular social media site that is known for its users who express their feelings in less than 140 characters. Though conveying what is on your mind in less than 140 characters is a creative idea, users are still having a hard time and requesting to allow them to have tweets that are longer than 140 characters. Fortunately, Twitter have heard their users’ woes and plans to allow tweets longer than 140 characters.

Twitter is currently building a new product that will allow users to publish longer content. Twitter executives are also discussing about tweaking how Twitter measures 140-character limit by excluding links and user handles from the character count. Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter in the interim, has been exploring new ways to improve Twitter and has been very supportive of the possible changes. “People have been very precious at Twitter about what Twitter can be and how much it can be evolved. Having Jack come in and say it’s okay makes all the difference in the world.”, one senior employee said. There is no official statement as to when and how this change will be rolled out.

Twitter has been a big help for Philippine SEO as it gives a traffic boost by posting a link from the site. Changes like this are indeed beneficial for business who use Twitter as a tool for reaching their audience and brand visibility. Once, this is implemented, brands and SEO/SMM companies may now publish blogs and content with more precise and complete content, which will let users become more engaged and satisfied. Do you think Twitter allowing tweets for 140 characters is a good thing for brands? Or do you prefer to limit tweets to 140 characters? Share your thoughts with us!
