Method 1: Restarting your computer in Clean Boot mode

        Open the Run box by pressing the Windows key and the letter R key at the same time.

        Type "MSConfig" in the text box, then press Enter.


        Go to the General tab and select Selective Startup.


        Uncheck the Load Startup Items option.

        Under the Services tab, tick the Hide all Microsoft Services box.

        Also, choose the Disable All option.

        Go back to the Startup tab and select Open Task Manager.

        Disable all the startup programs by right-clicking on them.

        Now click OK and restart the computer.

        Attempt to update QuickBooks desktop again, and if the error code 15215 persists, proceed to the next step.

Method 2: Try modifying the Internet Explorer settings

        First, close QuickBooks Desktop if it is running on Windows.

        Click the Start button and search for Internet Options.

        Select Internet Options from the list of options.

        Scroll down to the Advanced tab and look for TLS options.

        Ensure that the Use TLS 1.0 box is checked, and the Use TLS 1.1 and Use TLS 1.2 options are unchecked.


        Click Apply, then OK.

        Restart Windows and attempt to run the payroll update again.

 

Method 3: Running QuickBooks as an administrator

        Make sure that you have the necessary login credentials to log in as an administrator on Windows.

        Right-click on the QuickBooks icon located on the desktop and select the option to "Run as Administrator."


        If prompted, enter the login information.

        Press the Enter key to open QuickBooks, which should now have administrative privileges.

 

Method 4: Reconfiguring the Windows Firewall specifically for QuickBooks Desktop

        Click on the Windows Start button and access the Control Panel.

        Navigate to the section for Windows Firewall and select Advanced Settings from the left-hand pane.

        Select the Inbound Rules option and then choose the New Rule option that appears.

        Select the Port option and click Next.

        Tick the box for the TCP option and enter the port number specific to your QuickBooks Desktop version.

        Click Next and then select the option to Allow the Connection.

        Choose a name for the rule and click Finish to save the settings.

        Repeat the same set of instructions to create the outbound rules.
