Most complaints that we generally come across from the patients and the significant others are even before you start the entire process of safety IV cannula is swelling and intrafiltrated intravenous sites.

Intravenous therapy or say the safety IV cannula insertion is generally one of the most basic kinds of a treatment, given to all the patients in the hospital. The skill that is required to do this must be remembered by every nurse therapist, in order to avoid the complaints and giving undue pain to the patients. Given below are some of the major tips and tricks, on how you can actually turn out to be a sharp Shooter in every safety IV cannula insertion that you make.

1. Staying calm and being prepared: Hitting the bull’s eye in just one shot will actually depend on the talent of the nurses. So it is very important that you and your nurse should be composed as a nervous, as being in a hurry will just lead you to a failure. Have the patient told the entire process and determine the history through IV therapy. Also make sure that the patient is warm and comfortable in order to prevent vasoconstriction.

2. Exclude the confidence: Have faith and belief in yourself assuring the patient that you do know what you are doing. Doing this will help to increase the confidence in you and the one you are dealing with.

3. Feel it rather than just looking: If you are unable to see a vein, then it's high time that you trust your fingers when compared to the eyes. This is also an excellent opportunity for you to have yourself familiarized with a suitable vein. Remember a tendon may feel like a vein but palpating it through a range of notion may prove that it is not.

4. Asking your patient: It is your patient who will know which vein is more suitable when compared to the others, after having a look at his previous history.

5. Using an inappropriate Safety IV Cannula size: Have the needle and the gauge of the safety IV cannula matched to the size of the patient. You can actually hit a vein that is smaller than your needle, but can be injured and blown up as the needle is actually bigger than this.

6. Considering the use: Have in consideration the type of infusion you need while choosing a cannula. Needles that have smaller gauges are generally not recommended as it does not accommodate blood transfusion and parenteral feeding. It is the needless equipment that is widely used to minimise the injury of the vein during and after Insertion.

7. Observing the infection and control measures: Before you begin with the entire process do make sure that you are wearing sterilised gloves before inserting a cannula into the patient. This entire process requires a proper procedure and techniques in order to control the measures. Try and use a cotton swab or alcohol pad in the place you are trying to insert so that the vein is clearly seen.

To conclude Intravenous Insertion or say the Safety IV Cannula Manufacturer may be one of the basic skills for the nurses to learn, but it could be one of the most difficult if you have been lacking confidence and practice to do it. Most of them have gained these skills through continuous practice and experience in this skill. Never run to learn any nursing skill that you don't have, nor take any short cut to achieve your goals. Remember the nursing practices have to be accurate and learnt not by brain but by heart.
