Trend of Smart Homes Picking-up Fast in India
People are moving towards smart homes in India that have lighting, geysers, doors etc that can all be controlled by a smart phone.
Beautiful interiors, nice balconies, arches and new designs. Anyone who wants to build a new and smart home automation in Bangalore looks for these things. However, with the fast-changing times, more and more people are moving towards homes that not only look good, but also are high-tech, ie they can be controlled through hand-held devices. One may call it homes secured by technology.
People are moving towards homes that have lighting, geysers, doors etc that can all be controlled by a smart phone. Having the entire control of the house in one’s hand relieves them of the worry regarding the safety of the house. Also, it does away with the need of running around to switches to turn the lights/fans on or off.
“Sit back and relax, and the smart phone will control all the electronic stuff at home,” says Bharati Chandrashekar, an IT professional who wants to own such an apartment.
Chetan Kumar, managing director of S2 Housing, says: “We are doing a project, S2, at Sompura Gate near Sarjapura Gate. The project will have 300 completely automised villas with entire lighting systems based on motion sensors.
Secondly, we will also be giving the customers the control of the entire house, using smart phone. For example, if they are not at home and somebody rings their doorbell, they will get a call on smart phone. The price will range from Rs1.5 crore to Rs2 crore.” He said such automation systems have already been installed in 45 apartments on Sarjapur Road. He said an increasing number of people is approaching them because they are mostly at work and want to have an eye on their homes while at work.
Chandrashekar Y, director (sales) of Jayanagar-based Medhyam Automation Solutions, said automation particularly helps the elderly. Also, through this technology, parents who are away from the house can keep an eye on what is happening. This particularly serves working parents who leave behind children in the care of maids. The automation package starts from `80,000 and can cost up to Rs2 lakh per apartment, he said.
He said that these days, more and more people are enquiring about automation. He said the trend is picking up. Established in 2008, DNI is a techie home-solution brand specialising in home theatre, home automation, audio/visual distribution of home security and professional audio systems.
DNI has completed more than 300 home theatre, 50 professional audio and 15 home-automation projects. With home automation, consumers can select and watch footage of cameras in their home live from an internet source. Security cameras can be controlled, allowing the user to observe activity around a house or business right from a monitor or a touch panel.
Arun Kumar, a businessman who stays in Bilekahalli, says: “I am not at home (most of the time, but) I am able to get access to my home any time. I can switch on the lights at nights. I put on geyser before coming home, so my home can be a welcome home.”
Rakesh R, an IT professional in the city who own such a home, says, “My apartment is controlled by electronic PIR Sensors that detect intrusion. Hence I feel safe.”
He said many of his friends are enquiring about the facility.
