In the Indian automobile market nearly 60% of the cars sold per month are Japanese make. The MPV Toyota Innova and the sedan Corolla Altis are the popular Toyota cars in India. The Toyota Kirloskar Motors Private Limited has entered the hatchback segment with the launch of the Etios Liva based on the sedan Toyota Etios in 2011. The Liva has been updated in 2013. This stylish city car is slowly picking up sales.

The Toyota Etios Liva comes in 4 petrol and 5 diesel variants priced Rupees 5.0 to 7.21 lakh. The trims are JPS, G, V, TRD Sportivo in petrol and JD, GD, VD, TRD Sportivo and VXD in diesel. The Sportivo variants are 490 mm longer than the other variants. None of the variants have automatic transmission.

The base petrol variant of the Liva is costlier than the base variants of the main rivals the Maruti Swift, the Ford Figo and the Hyundai Grand i10 which are priced Rupees 4.71, 4.14 and 4.66 lakh respectively. The LIva is cheaper than the Hyundai i20 priced Rupees 5.3 lakh. The base diesel variant of the Liva is costlier than the base variants of the Swift, Figo and the Grand i10 which are priced Rupees 5.77, 5.06 and 5.52 lakh respectively. The base diesel variant of the Liva is cheaper than the Elite i20 priced Rupees 6.42 lakh.
    
The Etios Liva built on the Etios platform beats all its rivals in the external appearances. The Liva comes in colours of symphony silver, serene bluish silver, celestial black, harmony beige, vermillion red, white and pearl white. The sporty body of the Liva features high intensity head and turn lights, some characteristic lines on the bonnet, spoke alloy wheels, electrical body coloured ORVMs with blinkers and fin-shaped combination lamps and body coloured bumpers.

The dark cabin of the Etios Liva has premium looks. The top variants  feature include 2 airbags, ABS, EBD, a manual AC, fabric seats, steering mounted audio controls, chrome door handles, central locking, power steering, tilt adjustable steering column, power windows, electric ORVMs, rear wiper and a 2 Din music system with Bluetooth connectivity for telephony.

The Etios Liva gives mileages of 17.71 kmpl in petrol and 23.59 kmpl with diesel. The dimensions of the Etios Liva are 3775 (4625 for the Sportivo) mm length, 2460 mm wheel base and 170 mm ground clearance. The boot size is 595 litres for the Sportivo and 251 for the other variants.
