When you start looking for a new office, either because you’re starting a new business or you’ve outgrown your current office, you’ll want to make sure you find the right place first time around.

So how should you go about this? Here are some top tips to follow to find your perfect new office where your business can grow and thrive.

Find Out What Is Available

The first thing to do is to start looking for the sorts of offices available. Wherever you are planning to move, it’s well worth taking some time to get an overall idea of what you can expect.

You don’t even have to leave your current office to find out. Do a quick search online using a service like Click Offices and find out what sorts of offices are available and the prices you can expect to pay, then use this as your starting point.

Determine Your Budget

Next, you will want to decide on a budget for your new office. You don’t want to find the perfect place only to find out that it is way out of your budget range.

Look at what’s available and what you can afford. If you will spend more than you do on your existing office, consider the benefits that might come with this. For example, a larger office will give you more space to expand and grow your business, making it worthwhile paying extra. But you will still need to be able to afford it.

Find the Perfect Location

The location of your office is going to be very important. Think carefully about where you want to move to. You may already have a location in mind, and it may even be your primary reason for moving offices.

Factors such as ease of getting to the offices for your employees and clients, public transport connections, the average rent you will have to pay in the area, and proximity to amenities are all things that you will have to decide on.

Consider Everyone’s Opinion

The final decision will ultimately be yours when you choose your new office, but that does not mean that no one else’s opinion matters. You will want your employees to be comfortable in their new office because happy and content employees will be more productive.

So ask them what they would like. They may have requests that you have never even considered. For example, they may want an office near a good pub so they can go out for lunch and after-work drinks together. Perhaps they want somewhere near to a station so they can commute with greater ease.

You won’t be able to meet all of their requests, but it can help you get a better idea about what matters most to them.

Start the Search Today

As you can see, there is quite a lot to keep in mind when you start looking for your new office. But make sure you don’t rush the process. It can be tempting to rent the first office that looks suitable, but you’d be better off going slowly. That way, you can tick off all the boxes on your list to find the right office that will be your base for the next few years where your business can grow successfully.
