Joseph Barbera and William Hanna was the "perfect couple" created Tom Jerry games. Joseph Barbera, who was a painter drawing cartoons, met and decided to collaborate with director William Hanna. They started "cat and mouse" stories with the first movie called "Puss Gets the Boot". Despite of being responded, "Puss Gets the Boot" succumbed at the Academy Awards. And two of its authors have decided to hold a competition to get more attractive names for Cat and Mouse Couples that they cherished. This competition has brought the legend name "Tom and Jerry"  thanks to the idea of an artist named John Carr.

It is from here, relentless chases between Tom Cat and  Jerry mouse started. In spite of starting with remarks like "Cat and Mouse is Back, the same old thing", but charming wit, easy to understand "even with one child" and dramatic elements throughout, Tom and Jerry made the hearts of millions of children worldwide follow these "wordless" chases. The value that this animated film gives is empathy between viewer  generations, "adults also love Tom and Jerry" and so far, with many people, this film is part of their childhood memories .

Being born before computers and other technological devices were created, Tom and Jerry is truly a work of relentless labor of e-kip created it. With 24 frames per second, an episode of Tom and Jerry cartoons screened in five minutes need the coordination of the 7200 frames drawn and colored manually. 114 episodes of Tom and Jerry then won 7 Oscar Awards for best animated short film, which even Disney or Warner Brothers has not been able to do well. Starting in 1960, to continue the success of the first 114 episodes, MGM granted the rights to produce the film to Rembrandt Productions which run by Gene Deith in the Nordic. Then in 1963, the film was delivered to one of Hollywood's studios that was SOB-Tower 12 of Chuck Jones. The series ended in 1967 bringing the total number of episodes to 161. After that, to cater for the cartoon channel, two initial manufacturers Hanna-Barbera continued producing Tom and Jerry in the 70s until the early 90. And in the next year there were two long Tom and Jerry film debut as Tom and Jerry: The Movie in 1993 and Tom and Jerry: the Mansion Cat in 2000. The latest Tom and Jerry episode was The Karate Guard, premiered in Los Angeles on 27.12.2005. Today, Time Warner owns the rights to the Tom and Jerry.
