Tips to safeguard your Internet privacy
by Mark Ambrose ManagerInternet privacy is important for every individual today.
The reason behind it is that there are massive data breaches, and marketers are
cracking your every step online.
Having an idea about the digital
privacy law is important if you want to maintain your privacy
online. This is the world of digital annoyances, and you need to improve your
privacy online. It is about your data and your information. We know that you
cannot keep yourself completely private when you are online, but you can do
your best to improve your privacy online to the extent possible.
Some tips that can be helpful here are noted below.
1. Social privacy settings should be check regularly
We often make the mistake of randomly accepting what the third
party applications ask for. It is possible that you are allowing them access to
your private details in the process. In some cases, you might not even know
about it. The best way in which you can maintain your Internet privacy is by
checking your social privacy settings at regular intervals. This is not
difficult, and we are confident that you know how to access them. Checking them
regularly will hardly take a couple of minutes, but it will help you in
improving your privacy online.
2. Using public storage for private information is the wrong step
It is a silly thing to think that you can use public
storages and never worry about your private information stored in there. Public
storage is a clear indication that your data will be available publicly and
repeatedly using the same platform to store private information is a mistake we
often make. Over sharing is bad, and it is not limited to social networking
sites. Using options like Google docs
and Dropbox is much better
because you know who will be accessing your data and if there is an issue, it
will be easy for you to shortlist the culprit and spot them. It's advisable
that you do not use services that are meant for sharing public data more than
Private data.
3. Use secure passwords
We have a common password for a number of things, and we
think that there is nothing to be worried. This is where we go wrong because
even if there is nothing really private in a particular account, your
information can be misused and it can create problems for you. We suggest that
you use strong passwords and use a new password every time. If possible, make
sure that your every password is at least 12 characters long and unique. If
needed, you can look for a password manager where the entire database of your
passwords can be saved. In this case, be sure that you are looking for a
reliable and safe Password Manager only.
