If you compare any mountain bike with a wide tyre bike, you will not find much difference. All you have to do is just hop on your bike, start pedalling and enjoy your ride. These bikes are great for local trails as well as a beach ride. You can explore the beauty of the beaches in these bicycles and find tons of new places to ride to.

Beach bicycles are made keeping in mind the need of the cyclist such as curved frame, wide tyres, soft seat and a wide handlebar. And the discussion of beach bicycles is incomplete without Herskind bicycles. Their Beach Cruiser is simply great. It has all the features that are required to be a perfect beach bicycle.

Here are some points that you need to know while riding your bike on the beach:

·         Tyre pressure

This is the first thing that you need to know. For beach riding, you can run your tyres between 4 and 6 psi. Keep your pressure at 4 psi, if your entire ride is going to be on the sand. You can push the pressure up to 5 or 6 psi, if you have to ride on some trail or the road to get to the beach.

·         Dealing with the sand

If you are riding on the beach, your drive train and brakes will surely get some sand in them. If you plan to spend a lot of time cycling on the beach, then you should take special care in the maintenance of your bike. However, over the years, the components have improved a lot and they are made in such a way that they can survive in the beaches a great deal of the time.

Here are some tips to make your ride safe as well as carefree:

·         Stay hydrated

This is the most important thing that you should keep in mind while riding on a beach. While you ride, you sweat a lot in the sun. It is recommended that you get a couple of water bottle cages installed on your bike and drink as much water as you can. You may not get access to water or other beverages at the beach all the time. So you should carry your own water bottle.

·         Install a rear rack or basket

During your excursion at the beach, you may need to bring your snacks, towel, sunscreen, umbrella, book, radio etc. to have a great afternoon. It will be much safer for you to carry your load on a rack or basket, than hanging them off your bars. In order to keep your back cool, dry and free from load, don’t carry a backpack.

Now that you know all the tips and tricks, take out your bicycle, ride on it and enjoy the beauty of the beach while working out at the same time.
