Tips to Host a New Year's Party on a Budget.
Decide How Much to Spend
Before
you can get started with planning for the great event, it is necessary
that you create a budget and decide on how much money you want to spend.
Because I am sure you would not want to get trapped in debt in the
beginning of the year or in any way let your finances suffer because you
have the whole year ahead and it is not a good idea to get into
financial problems at the very beginning. Set aside a separate budget
for food, decoration and beverage. Instead of having a huge crowd and
managing them would be difficult you consider organizing a small party
in your house and invite your close friends and relatives.
Have a Simple Menu
You
see plenty of food being wasted once parties are over. It’s going to be
the same even in this party. If you are thinking of hiring a chef and
having at least three course meal to entertain party guests then you are
simply wasting your money. Instead keep it simple. You could serve
appetizers or a spoonful of caviar, a sprinkling of truffle salt, a rich
chocolate mousse. It would be even better if you could ask each of your
guests to bring one item of food along with them. This way, all of you
will be able to eat variety of yummy foods with spending much money.
Use Christmas Decorations
I
am sure you would have a big purchase to decorate your house and
Christmas tree. You can use the decoration for the New Year’s party. You
can set the table with inexpensive decorations, using stuff you can
easily pick up if you don't already have it on hand. Sparkle your house
with the leftover bulbs and give a festive look to your home. It is ok
even if you don’t make a budget for decoration. Use your creativity and
come up with ideas using the materials already available at your house.
Think Alternatives for Entertainment
A
party without music is like watching movie without pop corns. Music
peps up the environment. But that doesn’t mean you need to spend loads
on music by hiring a Dj or booking a band. People love to dance to
music beats. Instead go for something that would fit neatly into your
budget like renting CDs and playing it in your CD player. Or ask your
guests to bring one of their good CDs in this way you can listen to
different songs and would definitely entertain your guests.
Save on Alcohol
A
New Year’s is incomplete without alcohol. One way to keep your beverage
costs down is to decide on one or two signature drinks. Start stocking
your bar with those drinks well in advance of the festive season. This
way you may purchase these drinks at a much cheaper price. Or you could
ask guests to bring their own beverages, or make a fruity punch to
share.
