Tips for Using DSLR Cameras Correctly

by Sophia Cruz BUSINESS
World is a picture-hungry place these days. Though everyone seems to be knowing in and out of photography with mobile cameras in hand, the results obtained from DSLR camera remain unmatchable. Photography requires lot of practice. But, before practice, it does require guidance like the one available at DSLR Photography classes where you learn about the features and functions of this phenomenal camera. Apart from the knowledge about equipment, you get to learn certain photography tips that help you make the best use of this camera. Some of the important tips are explained here in brief.

Know when to use aperture priority and shutter priority modes

In DSLR camera, aperture priority is indicated by A or Av and shutter priority mode is expressed as S or Tv. These modes allow you to set the camera for appropriate aperture size and shutter speed. Size of aperture determines the amount of light you want to enter to the lens and shutter speed tells the amount of exposure to light you want to give to the photo. Aperture priority does great when one wants to click portraits or group photos. The idea is to bring out the details of the subject brilliantly while keeping the background not so obvious. And shutter priority is useful when the photographer wants to freeze a moment from the flight of a moving object. So, depending upon the depth of field required, these modes are set at different numbers for the best exposed photographs.

Give a thought to tripods, seriously!
No matter how still you claim to be in your mind, an excitement of capturing the moment you wish to have does bring in a bit of shaking of hand. With the automated tool like DSLR camera, the slightest of shake is enough to ruin the photograph. So, if you want to get the best results from DSLR Camera Photography, your investment in a tripod is certainly going to be a wise one.

Control lighting with ISO Auto feature
No one learns DSLR photography to get dull pictures or the pictures that are too grainy. You can click crystal clear pictures in all sorts of light settings with the help of ISO Auto feature. The ISO feature has speed settings of 100, 200, 400, 800 and, etc. ISO 100 is the perfect setting for doing photography in sunny conditions. You need selecting higher ISOs to adjust to the indoor light conditions or to get the best results even in overcast conditions. It is however found that ISO beyond 800 result in graininess in picture. So, make sure that you do not select more than ISO 400.

Learn about metering modes
DSLR cameras have metering modes that solve the problem of subject darkened by the bright lit surroundings. Center-weighted average meeting mode, spot metering mode or partial metering mode are some of the options you can choose according to the demands of the backdrop and lighting situation.

So, having a DSLR alone is not enough. You must have proper guidance for wielding it with finesse. A photography school session can help a lot many ways in learning the best use of DSLR cameras.
