Tips For Successful Email Marketing

by Jeremy Banks Evolutesix
Email marketing is a godsend to entrepreneurs because of the way they are able to generate prospective clients and conversions, given that email marketers apply the best practices and create a successful campaign. As with any campaign, the goal is to reach the people who matter—as in, the people who are most likely to open your emails.

Email Marketing

It’s not the easiest thing to find a list of people who will open your emails, but increasing the likeliness of that can be done by following these tips.

1. Specify Your Objectives

Before you even begin your campaign, clarify what it is you need to achieve with your email campaign. Are you looking for more customers? Are you promoting a certain product? Is there a discount you want people to know about?
When you know what your objectives are, you will know how to better create an effective campaign.

2. Start a Conversation

These days, content is overflowing on the internet, but demands remain on the rise.  The chance of your email being sent to the trash is likely, unless you give your recipients a reason to open your email. This is where content comes in.
When you give people something to talk about, you ultimately let them know their voice matters, and you allow them to engage with your email.

3. Write a Straightforward Subject Line

Your subject line should be able to not only catch your recipients’ attention, but also already give them an idea of what your email contains. Remember that your subject line determines the success of your email campaign, so when you write controversial lines like, “your password has been reconfigured” just to catch your recipients’ attention, you could be risking your customers’ trust.

4. Avoid Using “no-reply”

Receiving emails can be annoying, especially when they’re sent by bots. People know when an automated email is being sent to them, and that’s given away by the words “no reply” on your email.

People are more likely to respond to emails sent by actual human beings, because it gives them the option to respond or opt out of future emails. That brings us to…

5. Let Recipients Opt-out

Not everyone will enjoy opening emails or newsletters, which is why one move that lets you respect your customers and keep their trust is allowing them the option to opt-out of future emails. This includes navigating the opt-out option. Some companies let customers opt out but make it difficult for them to do so. Don’t be that company.

6. Use a Consistent Font

Your email campaign is part of raising brand awareness, so it’s important that people know who they’re dealing with. Little things like the font you use can contribute to your overall brand image.

That said, while it seems like fun to get as creative as possible, use as few font faces as possible. Using too many fonts with one email may make your email seem too informal, or may even give the impression that your whole campaign is a sham.

Email marketing is one of the most effective methods in digital marketing, especially when the campaign is done right. There’s no single formula for a perfect email campaign, so just keep trying. Everyone needs a little help sometimes, so call on an email campaign management company to get you started.
