Being a mamma for the first time is surely exciting and a bit overwhelming too. Everyone around starts pouring in suggestions and advices and it’s really confusing what to follow what not to! And these wise words are straight from moms who wished they had known these tips earlier to ease their motherhood-

Live in the moment-

Keep aside the worries of doing laundry, buying groceries and such. Remember to spend as much time as possible with your little baby as these precious moments will not last forever.

Don’t let your baby sleep while feeding-

Keeping your baby awake while you breastfeed will ensure that she is full and doesn’t wake up really soon for the next feed. It will help you be calm and sleep for a longer duration till the baby is up again.

Baby’s Bonding with Dad-

The newborns usually spends most of the time with their mums. But bonding with dad is equally needed. Make sure you help this happen gradually. Leave your baby and dad alone for sometime so that the baby gets familiar with dad’s presence, voice and touch. It will also give you time to rest and do other things. It is important to make your baby comfortable with others as well, apart from you.

One more reason why babies cry-

It’s not always that the little ones cry because they’re hungry or sleepy or want a diaper change. Sometimes it is as simple as them being cranky for no reason. So if your trying to make them calm doesn’t work, let it be. Not always do babies need been soothed, it’s completely fine. Fret not.

Keep yourself hydrated-

Nursing the newborn baby is a thirsty affair. It would be tiring for you to get up and fetch water all the time. Keep a water bottle within an arm’s distance at all times to quench your thirst.

Don’t hesitate to ask for help-

People love little babies and won’t mind taking care of them for a while till you get your own work done, like a shower, cooking a meal or even a nap. Ask for help from your beloved ones whenever you need.

Breathe some fresh air-

Go out for a walk at times with your baby. Keep extra diapers, wipes and a water bottle with you. Getting outside your usual zone is a great medicine. It clears your mind, relaxes you and also is good for your baby.

Use chemical-free products for your baby-

Be it baby powder, soap or detergent for washing baby clothes, try to buy non-toxic products as much as possible. Remember that it’s constantly in touch with the baby skin.

Eat healthy and nutritious meals-

Make sure to nourish yourself well with fortifying foods. You will require it more as you’re recovering from a surgery, may have sleepless nights, feeding and ushering emotions.Good food will keep you mind and body healthy and give you more energy.
