Tiles Are Good For Your Health?
by Philip Smith Inbound Marketing ManagerWhen it
comes to creating concrete wall, you can be sure that it is safe for our
health. However, when you apply one or two layers of paint over your concrete
wall, it turns hazardous. Paint is a inflammable material that easily catches
fire and is not at all safe for your health.
Fire Safety
Fire is one
of the leading causes of death in the United States. According to
FireRescue1.com, every year over 4000 people die and 18000 get injured due to
fire breakouts.
If choosing
to stone or ceramic tiles as flooring and wall surfaces, it is going to add to
the overall safety and security of you and the members of your family. Both
stone and clay tiles have zero chances of catching fire.
In the
following we discuss some of the reasons why natural stones and ceramic tiles
promote health safety –
No Fire –
Ceramic
tiles are basically clay – the clay with added strengtheners and surface finish
– which doesn’t actually catch fire. In ceramic and porcelain tiles, there is
no PVC (plastic) – which melts easily and becomes a reason for fire hazards at
a number of times.
Stone tiles
such as marble, travertine, granite and slate are natural material, to be
specific, processed from rock. Natural stones too have a very high burning and melting
point. Technically, stone tiles cannot catch fire and demote the spread of fire
during a breakout.
No Allergies –
Ceramic
tiles have no VOC (Volatile Organic Component). That means, it does not promote
the growth of concerning organisms such as mold, mildew, and others. The
presence of bacteria and allergens is rare on ceramic surface.
In industry
terminology, ceramic and porcelain tiles are often called a material that is
not a culprit of Sick Building Syndrome (SBS).
If timely
cleaning, care and maintenance are ensured, natural stone surfaces too demote
the presence of bacteria and allergens.
Last but
not the least, stones and tiles save you from those small heart attacks that
you get after seeing concrete floor maintenance bills. Both the materials are durable
and most importantly, low on maintenance.
