Three Reasons to De-stress with a Massage

by Kristen White Blogger
Everyone has a different way of relaxing but getting a massage has a few benefits that shopping or eating a pint of ice cream can’t match.

Stress is one of the biggest factors in physical and emotional conditions whether the stress is work-related, personal or connected to a relationship. If it is left to build over time then the individual will find themselves getting short-tempered, have headaches, body aches and mood swings that affect their ability to work and socialize. Studies have shown that the right physical contact can significantly reduce this feeling with physical, mental and emotional benefits which is why a professional massage should be a routine appointment on the calendar at least once a month or more frequent.

The majority of customers enjoy a private massage where they can settle into the ambience and fade away as the technician uses experienced hands to manipulate the muscles and nerves to release chemicals in the body and start easing the tension. However, couples massage therapy has also been shown to help with the de-stress process as both participants are able to relax and talk during an activity where they don’t have to do anything at all. This can be something that a husband/wife do together, mother/daughter or even best friends who need a safe space to catch up where they aren’t being tugged by kids, work or other responsibilities. It’s a great holiday gift or birthday present and what is more fun than getting pampered except for doing it with someone you care about. The space is private and both technicians are equally skilled to give each person the custom session they need to feel better and leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Sometimes an unexpected situation can create a high level of stress that needs to be dealt with immediately to prevent it from becoming a bigger issue (i.e. high blood pressure, stroke, etc.). For this, you need a location that accepts walk in massage therapy clients so they can get you in as soon as possible and get rid of the tension that is building physically and emotionally. Stress is a silent enemy in that it can be just underneath the surface, waiting for the right moment to come out in full force.

This is why scheduling a monthly appointment with the therapist of your choice, is a preventative measure to make sure that muscle tension doesn’t have a chance to build to epic proportions and that emotions can be released in a safe and effective manner. There are a variety of massage techniques to choose from or let the tech review your paperwork and make a recommendation based on their knowledge and experience of the body and what it needs.

No one is exempt from stress because it is part of life whether it comes from good or bad situations, it will come and you need to have a way to deal with that is safe and effective. Massage therapy is used by sports athletes for injury prevention, by couples as a romantic excursion and by individuals who need an outlet where they don’t have to do anything but let the experts work their magic on the muscles.
