Three mistakes to avoid when choosing music for your wedding
by SpeechLess Music Pop, Funk, Jazz, R&B, Blues, Acoustic, Rock, GypsyNot
too long ago, wedding music was pretty straightforward and limited to an
extent. There were no more than a few pieces that were played over and over again,
at each and every wedding! Things are different today. When it comes to wedding
music now, the options are virtually endless. This is both good and bad. Good
because you can choose whatever type of music you like the most or what you
think your guests will vibe with and bad because one wrong selection can make
your wedding entertainment meaningless. Therefore, it is important that you
only use the right music as it can give you anchors to draw you back to your
big day every time you hear that music again.
Listed
below are three mistakes you must avoid in order to make your wedding
entertainment something you and your guests will always remember.
Use traditional
music – Tradition
has meaning, but only when it has been a part of your life. Using traditional
music in your ‘not so traditional’ wedding will obviously look out of place.
Use your creativity instead and pick music that actually means something to
you.
Use recorded music
– Live music
lodges in our brains in an entirely different (and more permanent) place than
prerecorded music. It is a fact. You want the permanence of live music to
settle into your psyche. That way whenever you hear that piece, you will look
back to exactly how you felt on the day you said ‘I do’. It's much easier for
canned music (think, a DJ playing pre-recorded music on his computer) to pass
under your radar. There are so many good professional musicians around – from string quartet wedding bands
to jazz wedding ensembles. You can find someone to play at your wedding
ceremony.
Use music that
everyone else does – Your
wedding music is about you and your significant other. What did you listen to
while growing up? What did you listen to with your families? What did you
listen to when you were with each other? Find the songs that represent you and
your fabulous relationship.
Avoid
making the above mistakes when planning your wedding entertainment
and you will definitely get music that is just right for your wedding, music
that will make your special day even more extraordinary.
