One must be very careful about the material he chooses for his kitchen flooring. Kitchen floors are exposed to moisture, hot food spills, heavy traffic because of which they can easily corrode. If you have a small budget and cannot afford to have expensive flooring installed, three ideal materials for you are: laminate, linoleum and tiles.

Your kitchen floor is perhaps the most vulnerable floor in your entire house. It is more prone to damage and corrosion than any other floor in your house because it is exposed to food spill, heavy traffic and moisture. According to famous interior designers in Pakistan, you should never compromise on the quality of the material for your kitchen flooring. You can  spend a handsome amount on your kitchen floors but here are three kinds of kitchen flooring you should go for, if you have a small budget:

Laminate flooring

Laminate floor has a striking resemblance with the hardwood floor, but it is more durable, resistant to stains and cheap. Laminate is an ideal choice for people with low budget looking for stylish yet durable floor for their kitchen. Not only is laminate flooring classy and chic, it can bear food spills without getting damaged. Another advantage of laminate flooring is that it requires low maintenance cost and can be easily cleaned with simple vacuum or wiping with a wet cloth. Unlike wood floors, laminate floors do not require oiling and waxing after sometime.

However, since laminate flooring is an imitation of wood, every laminate available in the market is not durable. You should be very careful about the quality of the laminate that you are buying. Also, be very careful about its installation as the laminate planks may get separated if not properly installed. You should not choose laminate flooring if you do not like the hollow sound wooden floors make, you are looking for the aging look that wood floors give and cannot replace the floors every couple of years.

Linoleum flooring:

Linoleum comes in three forms: tiles, sheets and panels. In any form, linoleum flooring is cheap, durable and requires low maintenance. Just like laminate floors, it is cheap, can bear heavy traffic, resistant to food spills, scratches and stains and can be easily cleaned. However, unlike laminate it is available in variety of colors, resistant to fire, quiet and very comfortable, has natural antibacterial properties and can be repaired. Laminate floors are an ideal choice for people who want cheap yet stylish and colorful kitchen flooring. It also serves well for people who have small children, not only because it is scratch resistant, but its antibacterial nature makes it a safe choice for toddlers who have the habit of picking things from the floor and putting it in their mouths.

You should not go for linoleum flooring if you live in a humid area as linoleum expands due to excess moisture. You should also avoid installing the sheets yourself and employ services of reputed Architectural companies in Pakistan for the installation.

Tile flooring

There are three types of tiles commonly available in Pakistan: ceramic, porcelain and stone. Tiles are the most commonly used material for kitchen flooring in Lahore. They are cheap, durable and ideally suited for the weather of the city. Ceramic tiles, especially, are ideal for people who have a busy lifestyle and are low on budget. One thing that sets apart tiles from the above mentioned materials is that they are very versatile in terms of designing and have a greater aesthetic appeal. Tiles are available in a variety of colors and designs which can be mixed and matched to create appealing and stylish designs. Tiles are also resistant to moisture, stains and scratches and can withstand high traffic. They are also easy to clean and require low maintenance. However, one disadvantage of tiles is that they are very hard and can be uncomfortable to walk on. They can lower the temperature of kitchen during winters as they are not as warm as linoleum and laminate floors are.

The above mentioned materials might be cheap, but they are durable and can serve as ideal replacement for expensive flooring materials.
