This Carbon Offset App Can Help You Reduce Greenhouse Gas And CO2 Emissions

by DAVIS BROWN PRC Agency

Are you worried about the amount of carbon dioxide your daily consumption is producing? This group has made it easy to offset your impact.

An organization based in Miami, Florida has launched a web application that simplifies the process of offsetting the carbon footprint of an individual or a business.

Go to https://www.carbondivest.org for more information.

CarbonDivest.org's app allows you to calculate your carbon emissions using a web calculator and offset them by sponsoring one of the group's environmental projects.

The app can measure the total greenhouse gas produced in your house, as well as those created by car, motorbike, bus, and commercial aircraft commute.

Determining a house's carbon footprint involves summing up the energy produced from electricity, natural gas, heating oil, and other types of fuel and then dividing it by the number of people in the house.

For vehicles, the app is capable of calculating emissions using the car's mileage, model, manufacturing date, and efficiency.

The app can also measure the value of emissions generated by food, pharmaceuticals, clothing, computers, recreational activities, and more. This is done by entering your total spending in each category per month or per year.

Business users can also use the app to calculate their emissions, but those who want a more accurate measurement can contact the group directly.

After making its calculations, the app will provide several green projects that you can support to offset your carbon footprint score. For example, if you generated a total of 4.6 tons, you can donate $35.05 at $7.62 per ton to offset the total emission value.

The projects that you can sponsor are found in Central America and South America. CarbonDivest.org's portfolio of carbon reduction programs covers carbon avoidance, renewable energy generation, and support to the indigenous population.

Current projects include delivering food, water, medicine, and solar energy to the Mayans in Guatemala; supporting 15 indigenous tribes in the Guainia, Colombia, so they can care for their land; and helping Colombians bring back the native plants around Laguna de Tota, the largest lake in Colombia.

According to the group, they have chosen to support indigenous peoples as they are the landowners and caretakers of oxygen-producing rainforests. They stated that more projects will be added over time.

Data gathered by Statista shows that the average American produces 14.95 metric tons of carbon dioxide, which is the highest in the world.
