Thinking of buying central AC? Here are a few questions to ask before purchasing

by Robert Morgan airzonehvac

Next to the mortgage, the utility bill is the second biggest expense that a homeowner has to pay on a monthly basis. Your cooling system contributes most of the part in the utility bill. And if the system is older, the higher your utility bill will become.

So, if you are thinking to replace your air conditioning system for the very first time, it becomes crucial that you request for the estimates from an HVAC company before handed.

So, today we will share with you a list of smart questions that you must ask during the AC buying process.

1- For the size:

Start by asking, what size of AC unit do I need to cool my home properly? Then ask on what method they use to determine the size of the unit. You can cross-check the method they use and calculate accordingly to get a fair idea.

2- For the ductwork:

Will my currently installed ductwork be fine for this new system? What is the condition of the current ductwork? Does it have leaks? Do I need to clean the ducts before installing the new one?

3- About the company and their services:

Can I get a proof that shows your company is insured and bonded? Will I get estimates from you in writing? Can you elaborate the terms and conditions on the estimate? Do you offer finance or payment plan? Will I get any guarantee for the installation? What about the unit’s guarantee? Do you guys offer Air conditioning repair service for free of cost or do you charge, if yes, will I get a service contract?

4- For the technology and brand:

Is there any new technology that I should prefer, like one that comes with a remote-operated thermostat, upgraded accessories or ductless system? Why should I prefer the brand you offer? Will the new unit be energy efficient? What SEER rating does it have? Will this system help in utility bill reduction?

5- During the installation:

What is the time schedule for the installation process, from starting till the end of the installation process? Will you be hauling the unit to my location, if yes, do you charge extra fee or is it free of charge? Will there be a clean-up service available post-installation for ductwork, walls and floorings so that the place looks similar to before the work was started?

Bottom line

A reliable air conditioning contractor like Airzone HVAC will have no problem in answering either of the questions mentioned above. This is because they make sure to offer quality services right from the beginning. In fact, they will go ahead and offer you with a value-added post-purchase Air conditioner service in Ottawa.
