Things You Should Keep In Mind Before Deciding Between Your Career Options After 12th
by Avinash Mittal BloggerDo you want yourself to be sitting in a cubicle, just
counting your days and hours and sulking about your job thinking that you have
made a huge mistake career-wise? You won’t believe there are a lot of people
who realize it all too late that they’ve chosen the wrong career path. However,
the process of this starts from class 10th itself (from the time you choose
your stream).
I choose science stream after my 10th boards. So after
completing my 12th, I started looking for career options for science
students, and through all these years I realized how important it is to
choose the right career path so that you don’t end up with any regrets. Since I
don’t regret my choice at all here, I bring a few tips that will help you in
making the right decision about your career options
after 12th.
Determine Your Strength &
Weaknesses
It is very important to figure out what your strength and
weaknesses are. You must realize that you should not come under pressure from
anybody when it comes to choosing your career options. Don’t choose an option
just because your family or a friend said so. However, taking suggestions and
seeking guidance is always good but make sure you make your final decision
according to your interest. Your decision must be based primarily on your
interest, your strengths and your weaknesses.
Always Go For The Degree Over
The College Brand
One should always give preference to a course/degree over the
college/institution brand. This will ultimately help you to decide what you
want to do in the long run. Choosing a college brand for a course that doesn’t
match with your interest will only give you bad results whereas if you choose a
course which is of your interest even if it is from a not so good college it
can take you very far in your career.
Avoid Taking a Gap Year
Dropping a year to prepare for an entrance may not be such a
good idea. If you did not make it the first time, you would be thinking that
studying all year long would get you through it. But that’s easier said than
done. Staying motivated for the entire year and studying the same repetitive
course is no less than a challenge. It is better to pursue a degree or course
that can help you start your career very quickly. You won’t believe, but there
are various career options for science students (for other streams as well)
that help in giving a kick start to your career.
