Types of hot water systems:

Hot water systems are mainly classified by two types. They include storage hot water systems and continuous flow water systems.

Storage hot water systems:

In the storage hot water system, the water is stored in a properly insulated tank. Storage tank water heaters are common and they are generally powered by electricity. These water heater systems come with more than 5 to 10 years warranty. They consist of 1 to 2 sacrificial anodes. Storage hot water systems always require very low maintenance as compared to other systems.

Continuous flow systems:

Continuous flow systems are also known as instantaneous hot water systems where no insulated tanks are required. They are less expensive than storage-tank water heater systems. Continuous flow water heaters can either be powered by gas or electricity.
In these systems, water is only heated when required.
