There are many different sizes in pipes. The drainage pipe sizes differ from one among the other. When you are made to select a pipe there are some conditions to be known about the pipe before you select it. Things to be known about the pipe are:

·         Check for the hole in the pipe and make sure that the material you send through one side will reach the other side too or not. And also check for the time in how many minutes it reaches the other side of the pipe.

·         Check for the thickness of the pipe and know the density and roughness if the interior is smooth the material will get out easily if not then they will take the time or it will block somewhere inside. Note the factors which are working against the system.

Size of pipe:

The drainage pipe sizes must be carefully selected because they may have chances to get stuck in the middle. Make sure that for which material the pipe is going to handle and select according to it. The size of the pipe should not be too small because it may cause some issues like water hammering or it may make the waste to travel too fast this may lead to the breakage of the pipe.

Selection of pipe:

Selection of pipe will be quite confusing, in past the historical methods were followed. And after some year’s half-inch pipe had the inner diameter also as half inches they contain thick walls and that was the manufacturing during those times. And in the latest technology, the thickness of the pipe has become thin with the same holding capacity. When there came a demand for mass production of pipes there introduced a need for standard pipes.

Types of joints used in drainage:

There are different types of pipe joint which will help to transfer the material from one place to another. Some of them are listed below:

v  Lip joint

v  Pipe joint

v  Firm joint

v  Stanford joint

v  Collar joint

Lip joint:

These are the bond of protruding lips which is formed between the blocks of bricks.

Pipe joint:

The relation between stone and other identical pipes and other socket are termed as socket joints. It is by attaching the spigot from one end to the other enlarged end this is said to be a socket and some stuffing materials are needed to package the pipe where the spigot is not filled. Socketed pipes are made with a mixture of clay, cement, and asphalt and mixed well with the help of a stick.

Firm joint:

They are impervious to air or fluid at any sort of pressure. The socket joints of stones drain out of the ground and the dwelling inside is stopped with some of the materials. It will be a challenge to make an end sticky tight.

Collar joint:

The collar must be fixed with asphalt or the cement. These types of joints are done when the connections are inserted. Half socket joints are produced when all pipes have the same half sockets on both sides. When two opposite joints are formed the pipes will get connected. Pipe joint is very essential when it is handled precisely.

These are some of the important point joints which are used for various purposes.
