Things to Keep in Mind When Hiring a Band for Your Event
Want to do an event? Don’t forget to spice it up by the entertainment package. Parties and events are boring without a band, don’t you feel so? Band form an integral part of parties and social events. Without the entertainment part, the event is left to people socializing a bit and leaving. Live music adds up the spice and leaves a positive impression on the people.
While you may consider hiring a band a tedious task, we’ll give you some tips that you might consider while hiring one.
- Planning your event is very important for the rest of the things. Whether you want to plan a business party or want a social one. For a business party a jazz music should be good. You need to decide this aspect first. Once you are clear with this, you have to decide how your event will flow. Do you want background music, jazz and/or cocktail hour. Probably business music will be quite loud for a conversation. Once you decide on this, other things will gradually fall into place.
- If you planning for a big band, you’ll need a big space as in your stage must be able to accommodate your band; whereas if you have small space, you’ll need a small band of three to four people according to space available.
- If the weather is not too good and the event is supposed to be open air, be careful and make required arrangements.
- Make sure the theme co-relates to the music. Appealing visuals play a key role in the mood of the guests.
- Once you are through with deciding theses key factors, look for professional bands in town. Don’t end up choosing your friend or relative to play at the venue because of some competition they’ve won. Instead pay a little more for the professionals because they’ll do it sincerely.
- Select a few bands and fix a personal meeting with them. This will give you the complete knowledge of how they work. Tell them your ideas and place your demands in front of them and if possible show them the venue.
- Ask them about their favorite band or album. This lets you know about their choices and will tell you if they match yours.
- Next, you can ask about their experiences and shows that they have done so far. This lets you think twice whether he or she will be able to handle your event or not.
- Ask them if they have any back up plans if one of the band members falls ill during the performance. If they are professionals, they won’t lead your show down.
- Question them if they have worked at your chosen venue before. That gives you an insight into the details and issues that probably he knows and needs to be taken care of.
- And the final query could be what role he or she thinks he can play at your event. Many take them as professionals who would just be present there to play music. Whereas others might take it as their responsibility to engage the crowds in dancing onto the dancing floor.
- Also take feedback from people and get reviews online. This will not lead to wasting your money.
On the whole, clarify your personal doubts, if any and then make a safe decision.
